The loss of someone close can affect you in many different ways, our Grief and Loss page is targeted at helping you and your family handle this difficult time, including valuable information on funeral planning.

Support for new families

From the moment you find out you’re going to be a parent or grandparent, the worry begins; am I doing things right? Should I be feeling this way? A new helpline will soon be up and running to give support to women, their partners and families through pregnancy, birth and bringing baby home.

Following on from the approval of the historical paid parental leave scheme, a 24 hour Pregnancy, Birth and Baby Helpline provided by the Royal District Nursing Service Ltd will be launched. Women and their families can get information and support on pregnancy, birth and the first 12 months of a baby’s life by calling 1800 88 24 36.

For new grandparents, practices will have changed since they were last pregnant or brought home their children and this helpline will enable those welcoming a new child into their lives to have relevant information and support to hand.

Healthy Weight and BMI

Always a touchy subject but maintaining a healthy weight is important for good health.  The best indication of your weight is your Body Mass Index or BMI.  This measures the amount of fat you have on your body, determining whether you are overweight or not. Find out your BMI
