Australian expats lead global ageing debate
Dr John Beard & Dr Jane Barratt are two Australian expats working at the forefront of ageing demographic agendas in different parts of the northern hemisphere. Both will return to Australia in May to head up debate on all aspects of the challenges of ageing including the changing joint family structures in India, the labour market shortages in Germany and the development of social robots in the United States.
Dr John Beard is Director of Ageing and Life Courses at the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva. Dr Jane Barratt is Secretary General of the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) based in Toronto. Both doctors attended the successful IFA 10th Global Conference in Melbourne which ran from May 3-6.
