Carer Supplement

27th Jun 2011

We have received several questions, similar to subscriber Gay’s, wishing to know if and when the Carer Supplement will be paid this year.

Q. Gay

In past years, a Carer Supplement has been paid to eligible carers by the Federal Government. Can you advise whether you know if the supplement will be paid this year?

A.

The Carer Supplement, $600 for each eligible person you care for, will be paid on or after 1 July 2011. This is a commitment from the Federal Government under the Secure and Sustainable Pension Reforms of September 2009 and will be paid each year unless legislation is changed.
