Celebrate Chinese New Year

According to the Chinese zodiac, if you’re born in the year of the Rooster, you’ll be fine in June and December but August and September aren’t looking so hot!

As any self-respecting Rooster knows, their fidelity and punctuality make them a great travel partner. You’ll never be left in the lurch or miss a take off if you’re travelling with a Rooster. And another plus of travelling with a Rooster is that, according to Chinese culture, they’re handy for warding off evil spirits.

This year, we enter the Year of the Rooster on 28 January, and with the colourful celebrations lasting around 15 days, there’s plenty of time to experience the extravaganza yourself.

For Chinese people, the New Year is incredibly important; it’s a time to spend with family, pass on red envelopes filled with money for good luck, watch a Dragon dance, set off fireworks and of course, enjoy a proper Chinese feast.

For those keen to experience all the noise and colour of the lunar New Year, visit Chinesenewyear.com.au for events happening in a city near you.
