Comment of the week

28th Feb 2012

Thanks for entering our poll on whether challenger Kevin Rudd should go to the back benches if unsuccessful – an unequivocal 71 per cent say yes.

The Rudd v. Gillard v. Rudd discussion on YOURLifeChoices Meeting Place has attracted 143 comments – and still they keep coming. But opinion is divided on whether the Labor Party can now move forward successfully.

Phyl says:

Maybe now our Prime Minister can just get on with the job of being our Prime Minister. Julia has had it rough, so lets hope the job will be a little easier for her now and she can get some sleep. I feel she is a strong woman as she has shown true grit. Maybe, just maybe the knockers can find other things to run down and leave her alone to do her job as everyone else does theirs.

While Davey comments:

The Labor Party have shot themselves in the foot and are certain to lose the next election.

As far as I'm concerned Julie Gillard was never elected in the first place. Obviously other labour members don't want Kevin Rudd for whatever reasons. But Rudd seems to be what the people want so I expect Julie will be out at the next election.

Wish people would get over this "JG was never elected in the first place" furphy! We don't elect personalities - sure, who is leader at the time is a significant factor, but we vote for party policies & values (or we should)! There was a problem at the top and the party machine dealt with it- Rudd had to go! I think it's a great strength of the Labor Party (note: there is no 'u') that it has the ability to make changes when possible. JG's government has taken some bold steps which the coalition never would becasue it doesn't represent the common folk. I fear the inherent conservatism and small-picture mentality of the Australian electorate will once more bring the Tories to power! Sigh!
