Increase text size

Drew Patchell

Deteriorating vision is something which is ‘enjoyed’ by those who are lucky enough to be getting older. Drew explains how to increase the text size on any website.

Internet Explorer 7 & 8
Zoom in
In the ‘command bar’, which is located just below your menu bar, left click on ‘Page’. From the drop down menu, roll your cursor over the word ‘Zoom’. From the menu which appears to the side, left click on ‘Zoom in’.

Increase text size
In the ‘command bar’, left click on ‘Page’. From the drop down menu, roll your cursor over the word ‘Text size. From the menu which appears to the side, left click on ‘Largest’.

It is important to note that changing the text size may push some text outside of the margins set out on a web site.

If you don’t have your command bar showing, right click in the blank space next to your menu bar at the top. Left click on the third option down called ‘Command bar’. This should activate the bar for you.

Mozilla Firefox
In the menu bar at the top of your screen, left click on ‘View’. Scroll down and hover your mouse cursor over the word ‘Zoom’. From the side-menu which will appear, left click on ‘Zoom In’. Please note, if you would like to only increase the size of the text, select the ‘Zoom text only’ option and then click on ‘Zoom In’.

Google Chrome
The ‘Customize and control Google Chrome’ button is located at the top of your screen on the far right hand side below the close window button (the x). The button looks like three hyphens on top of each other. Once you have located the button, left click on it to open the drop down menu. From the menu, scroll down to the ‘zoom’ section. To zoom in click on the ‘+’ symbol.

Apple Safari
In the menu bar at the top of your screen, left click on ‘View’. Scroll down and left click on ‘Zoom In’. Please note, if you would like to only increase the size of the text, select the ‘Zoom text only’ option and then click on ‘zoom in’.

Thanks, Drew, I always find your input so helpful. However, I was able to zoom in, but the text size wasn't highlighted so was unable to alter that(?)

I`m just checking my saved stuff, trying to clean up things, and found your comment. What I do to change the size of the page is hold down the "Ctrl" button and on the mouse "roll" the wheel forward or backwards depending wether you want your print bigger of smaller. You`ve probably found this out by now but thought I`d tell you just in case.
