Low income energy rebate increase

31st Oct 2011

YOURLifeChoices subscriber Vivienne has been advised that there is a low income energy rebate available to those in NSW. She would like to know how she can make a claim.

Q. Vivienne

My electricity account provider Integral Energy tells me that the former NSW Energy Rebate has been renamed the Low Income Household Rebate and has been increased to $200 per year. What are the criteria to be eligible for his rebate?

A. Vivienne, from 1 July 2011, the Low Income Household Rebate replaced the Energy rebate, and is paid at the rate of $200 per annum. This amount will rise to $235 per annum by July 2014. If you were previously eligible for the Energy Rebate, you will automatically receive the new payment as a credit to your energy bill.

If you have not yet applied for the Low Income Household Rebate and hold an eligible concession card, you should contact your energy supplier who can arrange the payment for you. For more information, visit MyEnergyOffers.nsw.gov.au.
