Men’s sheds

2nd Sep 2011

The average life expectancy for men in Australia today is 79, four years less than their female counterparts. The time has come for men to seek the support they need and the first step is visiting your local “shed”.

Getting men to open up about health and emotional issues can be close to impossible but thanks to Government and community funding, one of the most innovative and effective forums for men’s issues, are now more accessible. Men’s Sheds provide a supportive environment within communities for men to discuss issues such as health, isolation, loneliness and depression.

For more information on the Men’s Sheds program or to find a “shed” near you, visit the Australian Men's Shed Association.
