I've had my beard since 1967 when I went bush for a few weeks.Beats shaving every day. If I have saved 5 minutes every morning over the last 45 years that equates to 8212 minutes or 1368 hours which is 57 extra days snooze time. Why take a razor to the bottom half of your head, anyway it's not the only place with hair. In fact some heads (those with comb overs come to mind) definately look better with the hair scraped off above the ears.

Hey Ozirules, like you I have had a beard since 1967 when I was on a ship held up by the Cultural Revolution in China and they refused, because we were Western pigs, to resupply us with fresh water so shaving was a luxury with 60 second showers!! . It is has come off only once, for a charity function, in all that time and it hurt!! The dog also growled at me when I came home and the kids thought I looked weird. Helps keep the flies off in summer and reduces sunburn. The beard grows whilst the head hair gets too tired to climb that high and then grow. Not a fantastic beard as the other half demands I keep it in check but I would not be without it. Interesting fact is that psychologically men with facial hair are considered to be the "baddies". Look at the stereotyping in movies and TV shows, the goodies are clean shaven and the baddies have facial hair!
