Pension supplements
2nd Jun 2010
YOURLifeChoices website has received a few emails questioning whether pensioners will lose allowances when the Age Pension increase is paid.
The good news is that you will still receive your current benefits but they will be lumped together into one payment, called the pension supplement. This will include the existing Goods and Services Tax Supplement, Pharmaceutical Allowance, Utilities Allowance, Telephone Allowance (at the higher internet rate) and increased assistance of $2.49 per week for singles and $10.14 per week for couples
The new supplement will be paid fortnightly and from July 2010, you can opt to have half of the amount paid as a quarterly lump sum to help with those bigger bills.
