Pets on holiday

2nd Dec 2011

Kennels and catteries often become booked out over the Christmas and New Year period. Even when they aren’t, the cost of using these services can be prohibitive. Many people in Australiaadmit to not going on holiday because they don’t have anyone to look after their pets, or they simply can’t afford it. So what else can you do?

Lonely Pets Club
Lonely Pets Club is an organisation dedicated to caring for your pets in your home while you are away. The carer comes into your home to feed, love, walk and clean up after your pet, which means your cat or dog is cared for without having to go through the stress of being caged in an unfamiliar environment.

Lonely Pets Club looks after more than just dogs and cats – it also cares for rats, ferrets, fish, guinea pigs, chickens and rabbits. To find out more, or to see if there is a carer in your area, visit the Lonely Pets Club website.

House sitting

A house sitter is someone who comes to stay at your house while you are away on holiday. A house sitter will keep your house secure and look after any pets you have. It is often very cheap to have a house sitter, and it can provide you with peace-of-mind while you are away on holiday. To learn more read our handy house-sitting guide.

What do you do about your pets when you go on holiday? Have you used a particularly good service, or even found a destination which is pet friendly? Let us know in the comments below.
