Stop your iPhone tracking you

12th Oct 2012
Drew Patchell

Ever since the software release of iOS4, Apple has been tracking your every move and providing where you have been and when to their advertising platforms. In its latest update, iOS6, Apple has installed button which allows you to limit tracking. Drew explains how to find the hidden button and turn off tracking.

If you haven’t already updated your phone to iOS6, you will need to plug your phone into your computer, open up iTunes and upgrade to the latest software. Once you have done this, follow these steps.

From the home screen, press the ‘Settings’ icon.
Next press the ‘General’ tab.
Press the first option ‘About’.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the next screen and press ‘Advertising’.
The ‘Limit Ad Tracking’ option will currently be in the off position. Press down on the circle next to the word off and pull it to the right. It should now read ‘ON’.
You have now limited tracking.
