Tiger tightens its rules

Following in the footsteps of Jetstar, Tigerair has announced that its free carry-on baggage allowance will be seven kgs from 17 April 2015.

Aiming to address overcrowding of overhead locker space, and increase passengers safety and comfort, the change will align the airline with baggage policies throughout the rest of the industry.

The new guidelines affect all travel from 17 April 2015, regardless of when the flight was booked, and allow customers to carry a maximum of two bags free of charge, provided they do not exceed a combined weight of seven kgs per person. Previously, the allowance for carry-on baggage was 10 kgs.

Passengers will have the opportunity to purchase additional carry on baggage allowance subject to available space. Called Cabin+, the product enables passengers to have two carry-on items, with a maximum combined weight of 12 kgs per passenger in total.
