Travel Q&A - Staying in touch while on the road
| |
Q. I am planning a long caravan trip around Australia and want to stay in contact with my family, what is the easiest way to do this?
A. In today’s world, technology goes a long way. If you want to contact your family cheaply, Skype is a great way to have video conversations online, for free. Anyone who has a computer with internet access can use Skype. To download Skype, simply go to www.skype.com and download the program. It only takes a few minutes to install and once you have registered a call-name, you are ready to go. You may need to invest in a webcam and speakers if they are not already built in to your laptop. If you follow Webmaster Drew’s instructions, you’ll be raring to go in no time. If you are not carrying your computer with you, you can access your Skype account from an internet cafe; however, if privacy is a concern, this may not suit you.
