Welcome
to the first Telstra Connected Seniors™ newsletter. These newsletters
will enable you and your club members to keep updated with Program
news, upcoming training workshops and other useful technology tips.
Completed projects
Congratulations to those grant recipients who have completed their projects. We hope your participants found the education materials beneficial, and that the training sessions were both fun and informative.
Over the past eight months more than 110 community organisations have already received grants (totaling over $750,000) to run education programs that teach those aged 60+ how to better use communication technology.
Sharing your results
Already thousands of older Australians have begun to learn more about technology. Through this Program we are seeing seniors across the country become more confident using their mobile phone and the
internet.
It is important for the Program's success, that we capture your stories and the many ways that learning how to use mobile and internet technology is helping people to connect to family, friends and the world around them.
Therefore, we welcome any project photos or participant quotes you are able to send us, which help to bring the project alive and inspire others to create similar projects with their clubs and groups. Please forward via email to telstraseniors@team.telstra.com
Important reminder!
For those yet to complete your projects, it is important to ensure that your Final Report and Participant Registers are completed using the electronic template and sent via email to telstraseniors@team.telstra.com. Handwritten reports will NOT BE accepted. The templates are designed to make this easier for you to complete, so please use the templates provided as part of your welcome pack.
"How-to" self teach materials
From the feedback we have received, we know that a simple guide that clearly shows you how to do certain things on your mobile phone or on the internet would be most appreciated. So we are now developing a series of 'How to' self teach information sheets on understanding technology.
We plan to keep them simple, while providing as much information as possible. We would love to have your feedback on whether you find them useful and what other topics you would like covered. In the meantime enjoy Part 1 of our series - Understand your mobile phone.

Tools and Resources update
We are excited about the response and feedback thus far, in relation to the education materials and topics we have made available as part of your grant. We have taken the time to understand what topics are of most interest, starting with the basics and continuing through to topics such as 'creating your own website'.
It is worth mentioning the support materials available in the Introduction Kits which relate to each of the workshops. These support materials are designed to help you run a successful education session, with useful tips and hints to guide you as a presenter.

"Thanks to the Telstra Connected Seniors Program, we are able to help our members better understand mobile phone and internet usage, .... Our members want to utilise the benefits of such technology to remain in contact with family and friends, both locally and abroad. Members also want to be familiar with online banking and shopping. We are now in a position to show them exactly how to do it."
