The Victoria in which I live to-day, is a very different place from my childhood days, when we even as children, or anyone, could walk the streets any time of day, leave the back door open while we went to the shops, leave the car unlocked, and we lived opposite a pub!

We now have a politically correct society, where parents and teachers have no control or power to discipline.
We have a legal system populated by do-gooders who hand out a slap on the wrist for most offenders...especially the young, and a police force, which is now a police 'service', which till recently was headed by the pc'est of them all, and consequently have been reduced to a wimpish, pale shadow of itself.

The result is almost daily reports of bashings, muggings, home invasions and worse.
The elderly have become the prime target...a soft target for the cowardly.
