Who's approach is the best one for Australia today?

With 187 About Seniors Enewsletter subscribers answering this question, an overwhelming 61.5% believed Mr Rudd's approach was the best for Australia today, with Mr Turnbull coming in second with 38.5%.

While everyone did have a vote, there were some who believe "neither of them are overly good for the country, rudd is never here and turnbull has no real policies."

Another email on the subject was: I would have liked to give a fuller answer. The budget reply was the first time that I've heard Malcolm Turnbull not sounding as if he is attacking because he feels obliged to do so. Both leaders have some very good points, the state of the economy is very serious and a bi-partisan approach could achieve a lot.

Hi Seth, You could never bore me with Army talk. Even though I enlisted when I was only 18, I had some of the greatest times of my life. I went through the ranks in Transport Units, except for a year in 3RNSWR at Goulbourn,(Infantry) so I only had to scream for 1 year, although, I can't remember waking any of the boys with a hot tea. Ha Ha Ha!!! I made some wonderful friends, who tended to be a little older than me. They are all gone now, except for one who spent some time in Vietnam & has been a full blown alcoholic for many years.I could talk for hours about some of the crazy things, but that is for the pool table & a schooner or 3, never to be put in writing. All the very best.

PS. My grandson, is enlisting to do a trade, so unless he it put into the Assault Pioneers, there is very little chance of ever volunteering.

Val, you said, in part :-

'' We don’t have a decent government to elect as both the majors are in bed with big business and they get their way by these large donations that were supposed to stop once the taxpayer funded the elections but didn’t of course and both like them so nothing will get done until we get a third alternative who will do the hard yards - much as Innes hates them - it will probably be along the lines of the UK parties who have or are making inroads due to most being mightily sick of the governments they have had to date and all corrupt as hell ''

I don't really hate the people in Parties like the BNP, I just fear the results of electing fanatics from either end of the spectrum. As I stated, a little earlier, do we really want a new Victorian era, followed by the Australian Inquisition? I despair of the Australian voter. The biggest news of the last few days, has been that Malcolm Turnbull is a self made multi millionaire. We couldn't possibly dream of having our country run by a proven successful man. We would much rather elect a no hoper & watch him get rich over a term or two in Canberra. I believe that every politician should have to pass 3 tests.

1. Must be a self made, wealthy individual.

2. Must be a proven patriot.

3. Must have an incurable terminal illness, with no more than 6 years to live.

That would get some real leaders, with nothing to gain!!!

Innes saidAs I stated, a little earlier, do we really want a new Victorian era,

Victorian? What was that wrong with it apart from having moral standards we lack today?

The six years could be wrong, that would give two terms, one term too long! the last term could wipe out any good in the first.
