cross cut shredder

Our el cheapo shredder purchased from K-Mart has died...only paid around $25 and it was great.

Last week purchased a Lowell for $59.99.  Taking it back for a refund from Office Works as we find it too noisy, too hard to take the top off to empty and overall not happy with it as it does not do as many pages as it says it will do at the one time.

Now, the problem is what do we purchase in its place?

Does anyone have any advice please?

Radish a bit off topic but I am taking back our Ultimate Blender 900 tomorrow from the place sells T.V. stuff, as the top does not seal properly with the bottom on the big blender glass and the ingredients leaking into the albeit sealed (kind of) motor part.

Hope I do not have a fight on my hands, but it seems dangerous and at $150 dollars not just chucking it, as I am prone to do.

Good luck with your return - do not know how good Office Works is. I know the place we bought our Blender said No Returns but I believe it is a fault and they will have to. I hope.

Phyl, have a read of this.

If a product does not fit the purpose for what it is intended you will find that you will have no problem.  As yours is leaking they will probably offer you a replacement but I think if you want a refund you will in all probability get it.

Usually I try and buy from a reputable place and so far, touch wood, have had no problem.

I did read online where someone else took a shredder back to Office Works and was find.

Let me know how you go and I will do likewise :)

Good reading thanks Radish and well worth keeping.

This one relates to the one I bought.

* it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it

We shall succeed Radish :) I will let you know tomorrow.

In some ways I would like to be able to go into a shop and actually see the product working through it's various things to see if it is actually what I want.

I usually go to this site to see if I can check out what I want to buy :-

Whatever do not buy any Sunbeam productsNow made in China and of inferior parts and their after sales service is inferior too.

If you have bought something that you have a problem with you can put it on the site with a review which helps other people.

thanks Sandi.   I agree would like to see working and that is why I wondered if anyone on here has one under $100 that they would recommend.

I think hubby is going to buy the $20 one that was also on sale.  He says even if it packs up after 12 months it does not matter for that price.

Radish, you would love the one I have, but it would be a bit big and a bit pricey for you.  I had it for my statue business for shredding paper for packing the statues in boxes or crates.

I can't remember what brand it is though.

Hello Radish

My chipper/shredder is a hansa

Dens you and Abby are like Image result for two peas in a podalways getting it wrong!!!!

Hello Three Fat Dots

Yes we may be a bit like two peas in a pod

but we never get it wrong.

thanks Denzel but different shredder lol...I am talking about a paper shredder for shredding documents.

I have one called "SafeGuard Shredder" Radish but only a few sheets at a time and it was dirt cheap so happy to just use and replace as necessary, prior to that I had an expensive one which was supposed to and did take staples but didn't last long.

A friend of mine who uses a shredder mainly but shealso uses a 5 bladed pair of scissors to cut off name and  addresses on non-significant letters available through e-bay for less than $10.00 which kept in a drawer which she says they are quite handy too for a one off use.

Fellows is a good make...we have a Fellows Power Shred HD10Cs. Great because the paper doesn't jam and it takes 10 sheets at a time.

We did intend buying the one you mentioned the Power Shred HD10c (choice recommened best buy)  but did not have in stock so we bought the other model.  Apparently it is quite popular and we got the last one in stock.

Hi Radish and anyone interested.

Hooray Image result for Smileys cheeringI was handed my $150 on return of the Blender.

The one reason they cannot question why a refund is in order, is if it is dangerous.

Thanks Radish for the site you posted. Made our day.

Phyl, great to hear you had success...AND...we did too.    Not a problem with Office Works.  We explained the problem;  were offered another in exchange or money back.  Took the money toddled off to read Choice at the library and after that we went to The Good Guys and purchased one for about $10 more than we paid for the previous one at Office Works.

This is a Fellowes H-6C and we are, so far, happy with it.  Not as noisy as the other one and it is working fine.

Radish

This looks like a good one :)

Shredder

LOL,.....yep that is the one Abby!!!  ;)

Ooops !!!

Hope that Danzel does not see it ... he might get very upset ?
