Message from Choice Consumers - Kellogg's to put Health Stars on Cereal.

You did it! You called on Kellogg's to place health stars on their products and they listened!

This morning Kellogg's announced that they will be rolling out health stars across all of their breakfast cereals! You'll start to see the first packs carrying health stars by June and then ALL products will be carrying health stars by the end of this year.

This is thanks to you and the pressure you placed on them!

With one more company giving us this great health information, it's time to put pressure on the companies that are still not doing the right thing.

We just found out that McCain have blocked our emails about health stars! This tells us they aren't interested in hearing from you about the health information you want on products. That's not good enough.

If you want to see McCain put health stars on their products, email them directly at customerservice@mccain.com.au and ask them to follow Kellogg's lead and sign up to health stars.

PS: Here's some suggested text if you need help writing an email to McCain:

Dear McCain,

I am disappointed that you have not committed to implementing health star ratings on your products. Brands such as Kellogg's, Coles, Woolworths, Sanitarium, Uncle Tobys and Nestle are leading the way with products already displaying health stars in the supermarket. I urge you to commit to placing health star ratings on your products as soon as possible.

They are now trying to get McCain's to do the same.  It will make it much easier to pick and choose products.

Thanks for that Sandi

However I believe this to be a scam by the companies... similar to the Heart Tick.

Kellogs is renowned of putting too much sugar on their products and hence I would consider them unhealthy ... Are they going to change their recipes for their product ??? If not by printing stars on their boxes does very little for me... and I do not think very much of Choice Consumers.

The only thing needed to be done is make sure that the Nutrition Information label is of a size that is legible.

Hello Abby

but but but...

it will be no "added" sugar

There is nothing to stop people from adding their own sugar to cereals if that is their choice.

From what I have heard there is more nutrition in eating the carboard box than the product inside.

I do not mind the CSIRO cereals except they are too sugary for me.  I wish they would reduce the sugar or leave it out altogether.

Good news. Hope it does wake other manufactures up, so people have more chance of choosing what they require.

Head for rolled oats, dump all sugary breakfast rubbish, you {did} look after your car, you never put cheap oil in the engine, now look after yourself.
