looks as though the indonisian goverment is going to go ahead with the shooting of the two australians ,      i thought maybe after this delay, they may have cummuted there sentance to life imprisonment,    but seems as if they are going ahead,     they have a female in the prison also,  who will be shot,

What has happened, has happened,

just hope our laws are made tough enough to scare of opportunists.

..... wonders if they "dobbed in" the names and whereabouts of their supposed  "Mr. Big" to the person they spent their final hours with?  After all they had nothing to lose anymore - or maybe they would still be scared of their families being killed at a later date?  Hmmmm interesting ........

Foxy,

Pretty hard to nail the money men as they do not handle the merchandise.

SD

..Shaggy I am just basing my comment (above) from media reports awhile back stating that they "knew" or - had a pretty good idea - who these people were and that they feared for their families lives if they made public the names to get themslves a lesser sentence?  However - I do tend to agree with you that the "big boys" probably wouldn't be known by people " so far "down the ladder" so to speak .....  but - they obviously were given the drugs by "someone"  higher up and whom they knew in the first place - right?   ......   :-)

Anyone else notice Zapot has been very quiet lately, makes one wonder.......

PM him if you soooo worried - geez

Realise they committed a serious crime, but felt after 10 years in jail and rehabilitation, life in prison, not execution,  should have sufficed in this instance IMO....

Can't help but feel for their families who have been to hell and back through all this...

Shetso, that is what a normal person without an axe to grind would do,

10yrs is a long time then to shoot them is nothing short of sadism.

At last maybe can turn on the news or current affairs not having to see a lot of crocodile tears and weeping for a pair of drug runners. Who have got what they were warned was the penalty for running drugs in Indonesia and the Indonesians have got a President of the people who at last is doing something about the scourge of drugs in their society.

Unlike our leaders. Who have,  I suspect spent millions of taxpayer dollars on them.

Money which could have saved the pain waiting years for hip replacements for the elderly or help for autistic kiddies and their parents?

Because for sure the families of this pair hadnt got the, must be close to a million or more,  to pay 2 QC's plus at least 5 other lawyers, their fees, air fares and accommodations over all this time. Months is not years of legal representations  but then same for Michelle Corby.

Meanwhile PM Tony Abbott who has made this pair priority enough to actually recall our representative back, when in 2005 Malaysia executed Aussies Howard didnt, was also busy setting up a Task Force to stop the drug runners here spreading Ice. Hypocracy in action.

Drugs are the scourge of the century killing more than any other events - but mainly unreported numbers.

And do read this -

Extract of main meaning for those who dont bother to read anything someone not part of their group posts like myself.

"Their study examined the relationship between the number of executions and the number of murders in the United States for the 26-year period from 1979 to 2004, using data from publicly available FBI sources.  There seems to be an obvious negative correlation in that when executions increase, murders decrease, and when executions decrease, murders increase."  DUH!

When did we lose our common sense? the 1960's was the start of the campaign by the left to break down society and sure hs come to a place where it is showing they are close to success. How long before we ask for Law and Order to be restored? Society here - well daily reporting of murders, drugs killing thousands if not millions, crime everywhere, drive by shootings, muggings in the CBD at midday even in our cities. And even suburbs terrorized by hoons with cars as reported rcently on TV and police under-manned due to cuts in budgets as well as restrained by left cries of too much force if they actually do their jobs with no thought of the danger they face trying. Neighbours out of control and spying on each other causing mayhem.where will it end? Anarchy.

Because of course even murder today gets very little by way of  punishment. We no longer punish criminals. We 'rehabilitate" them. So that they can go out and do it all over again. Called the revolving door but not mentioned when discussing the ultimate penalty by the left ever. Lawyers love it so are always behind left wing ideas makes them fat fees and they are of coure the main culprits in not paying their income taxes too. Something else not mentioned often. Along with much else.

To restore Law & Order as it was, then the Death penalty should be brought back here asap and only the pollies are stopping it as a referendum would bring a resounding YES.

Like all phone polls do.

Because of course then they are secret. Which is why lefties hate secret ballots!

They lie and cheat and say death is not a deterrent.

When it is always has been and is why our whole criminal justice system is broken.

BV... I for one was not overlooking the serious of what they were doing, or the consequences if they had succeeded, but going by their ability to have straitghened themselves out, and not forgetting they have been imprisoned for ten years, a life sentence would have, IMO been a just outcome,

I do not agree with your opinion that a referendum, would bring a resounding yes vote, after all the dth penalty was removed by polles because the people wanted it removed.

Why just the 'lefties'

All pollies with an agenda lib. lab. etc hate secret ballots, they all want to know who votes Yea or Nay. .

Our criminal system is down the drain because of leniency in sentencing,

Easy to get bail, released too early by the powers that be. easy to appeal agains a sentence.

BIG VAL,    this would make more sense if there own streets were squeaky clean,    i have never been there,  but my daughter used to go every couple of years,   and said the streets were rife with any kind of drug you wanted,     if this widdodo were fair dinkum,   he would clear that up first,

One basic argument against the death penalty, is that innocent people are often executed.

I agree with seth that our criminal system is not up to snuff.  There are crimes where there is too much leniency, etc.

Some "criminals" are not criminals, but should be incarcerated in an asylum for the criminally insane ... not be released.

Forgot this too  Not so nice a man after all and we didnt have this report here and why?

Didnt suit the tale of how these poor innocents were going to be executed. Or use of the dreaded Death Penalty which seems to scare the pants of the left.

Well he is facing his maker right now for his sins. As we all do eventually.

Australians are stupid.

Good to be rid of druggy rubbish.
Looks like drug dealer's bodies get a free flight to Australia........It cost us $350 to take my father in law's body from Sale To Wodonga and he was an honest farmer.
Where is common sense?

The Abbott government quietly scrapped an instruction to the Australian Federal Police last year requiring it to take Australia's opposition to the death penalty into account when co-operating with overseas law enforcement agencies.

In 2010, Labor's then minister for home affairs, Brendan O'Connor, included Australia's opposition to the death penalty in his official ministerial direction to the AFP.

Whilst I feel sorry for the family

These gang leaders knew the risk they were taking .. unfortunately if they were allowed to come back they would be clean skins and the mules they organised would be in our slammers. AFP did and are doing a good job.

Not a word in the media about the 7 people in jail in Indonesia because of these two criminals. Rehabilitated ? that also is questionable ... they just learnt how to milk the system through which they got relative freedom.

Hope we do not have to pay for a state Funeral as well

Good enough to pay for a billionaire like Packer then anything is possible regarding a state funeral Abby. It wont happen of course and odd you think it would be a possibility.

Geoff

With Abbot politicising on this nothing would surprise me.

Listened to Julie this morning and the above post re changing AFP regulations and she said that the same regulations applied as were instituted in 2010.

Looks as if the Labs are also wanting to pointscore..

Abby

I found that a bit odd too. If not now ( appropriate ) when is it time to find out the policy regarding info given to death penalty countries. Why did they drop/change the ministers advice in 2014 if its the same as 2010 ? Covering their backside it seems. Politics as you say have taken over from genuine concern or grief with some pollies. You said politics/politicising and I say the rest of the above. To be clear.

Big Val's link makes interesting reading and as she says why was this not known before.

I copy and paste Val's post just in case anyone missed the link.

Yes Viv

Thanks for putting the link up again

Most people do not know this about this duo ... in other operations using 15 year olds as mules and making them swallow the pills ... a well worthwhile read for everybody.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal for the first time that Chan enlisted Sydney teenager Rachel Diaz, 17, and Chris Vo, 15, both from western Sydney, as drug couriers to smuggle $1 million worth of heroin in condoms, which they were to swallow in Hong Kong and bring back to Australia.

These men are definitely NO HEROS ... they were the pits.... why media and government ran with it trying to make them into some glorified heros is beyond my comprehension.

IMO.... They were both creeps if above is true, I still believe life imprisonment served hard, where they reflect on how stupid they were, was more painful, knowing they will never be free again.

had no read any of this before,    anyway ,its to late for anything now,   they are gone,    forever,

I cried when I heard the news

For the families, for Australia and for Indonesians living under those conditions and system

There are 58 countries in the World that have Death Penalty including US.

I didn't cry but did feel a bit effected by these deaths....

Fell asleep late on Tuesday night and woke very early Wednesday morning to news that they'd been shot,  and to be honest, even though I knew it was coming, did feel sort of shocked that it had finally happened.....

Doesnt change anything I felt or said Abby

Wrong is wrong

Yes it is wrong, wrong to keep anyone on death row for ten years , and wrong to kill another human being...

FELT A BIT THE SAME WAY,  DENZEL,    TWO LIVES JUST WASTED,
