"Help" I've become invisable.

My husband has recently retired so is on an Age Pension. I am 61 and receive a part Newstart payment. I have been into Centrelink six times in the last four weeks and each time have been told conflicting information.

1. I can either do voluntary work for 15 hrs a week, or look for three jobs a week.

2. I only have to do voluntary work because I am over 60.

3. I have to look for three jobs a week whether I do voluntary work or not.

4. I can't study because I have to look for work.

I attended my first appt. with my 'Job provider' last week. The person I saw said she didn't know why Centrelink had sent me there because they had lost their funding and her and six others had been made redundant, and after next month they weren't providing any services ! Needless to say she wasn't the least bit interested in me.

The only thing she told me was that I had to look for 5 jobs a week??? I've looked just about everywhere on the inet (including Centrelink site) and all the info is for people up to age 59.

So, does anyone know what the requirements are for invisible me.

Thanks

I don't know where the hell one is supposed to get a job as for decades now once 45 years old you are not considered employable at all and there aare plenty of young ones wanting jobs they ae unable to get!

I don't know what the requirements are. Seems like everything in this country is becoming one big huge mess. Nothing is straight forward anymore.

Wonder why with that Idiot Abbott running the show

Robi,

There is a malaise drifting across this fair country of ours.

I suspect a lot is of our own doing. We have let successive governments take over our lives and there has never been a government yet that is efficient at what it undertakes.

Trouble is it is BIG business that runs the Governments

I disagree Shaggy. How were we supposed to stop "governments taking over our lives"? The only power we have is a vote every 3 years. This current government is really messing things up and in particular is throwing older people into a stressful insecure spin.

Governments are puppets rulled by the puppeteers but this one in now is the wosrt I have seen

The whole structure of government in this (and many other western) country is a mess and not conducive to the wellbeing of citizens. We need a new party of honest ethical people with a charter that stipulates integrity, transparency and government FOR the people. Unfortunately, I cant see that happening in my lifetime - too many special interest groups, dishonest politicians and a system structured for  preservation of the status quo.

The Liberal Democratic Party is Australia's only party that does not appeal to voters based on the claim that it is better at spending our taxes.

The Liberal Democrats believe Australians pay far too much tax and want to see the burden substantially reduced. Since 1996, per capita taxation has increased by more than a third after allowing for inflation, not including the GST.  As a share of GDP, taxes (federal and state) are 75% above what they were in 1972, when the Whitlam government was first elected.

I am not stressed for what Tony is doing about the aged      Labor will lie about anything  Shorten is the worst at it

But Abbott is a blithering idiot and a liar --he even tell lies about lying

Worse Tony Abbott even appoints focus bodies made up of people who are not open minded and just out to protect their own interests.
