What are some alternatives to drinking coffee?

There is much research that promotes both the benefits and negative effects of caffeine, but when you need that kick in your day, what are you supposed to drink?

According to the Herald Sun, here's a list of some drinks that are considered alternatives to coffee:

Matcha green tea

Dandelion root coffee

Hot cacao

Masala chai

Hot maca

Turmeric tea

What do you suggest as an alternative to coffee?

Four years ago, India’s leading Hindu cultural group developed gau jal (“cow water”) as a “healthy alternative to soft drinks. Hindus have long worshiped cows for their life-sustaining dairy products, but Ayurvedic tradition also holds that bovine urine can be used to cure ailments ranging from liver complaints to diabetes and cancer.

The good folks in the Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said they hoped the group’s new soft drink would give a wider market the chance to enjoy the health giving properties of cow urine, in a form they promised would not smell or taste like urine. Gau jal  has found a niche market in Italy, where it is sold as “acqua di vacca.”

Thanks but no thanks ... think I will give this one a miss :)-

That looks like chamomile blooms at the side of the cup ?

Be courageous, taken with a drop of LG's grog and you never want coffee again

Lord G sounds right, no throw ups after a grog. unless'!!!

No thanks, I'll give that one a miss too.

Coffee rules for me.  It's dangerous to approach me before my first coffee of the morning.

Coward!!!!! Pulling your leg

A two-cup-a-day habit could also lift your performance in the bedroom beside  boosting brain power and memory, making you feel more vigorous and improving your mood

Apparently caffeine relaxes the arteries, leading to increased blood flow in the penis but drink too many cups a day and it may lead to an increased risk of insomnia, anxiety, heart palpitations, tremors and an upset stomach.

Of course the research done into effects of caffeine in women must have been done by men ..... caffeine can also kick women's libido up a gear. At least it does in female rats.

This gives quite a kick too at $80 a cup

Maybe thast's why the wife has very little to complain about!!!!

I be a tea drinker mostly. Out of a real big mug. It can be black no sugar throught to white and sugar, not too fussed.

I like a bicky to dunk in it too, a hard one, if there be any about the shop.

You wont believe this SD but some researchers(probably with nothing todo) said rich tea biscuits are the best for dunking. I prefer ginger bics cause, if any bits falls in the tea, you get a nice flavour of ginger. I like my tea strong with no milk or sugar but only after Ive had my strong morning coffee!

I have ended up in a few locations where tea was it, sugar and milk just not available.

Tea and a smokey fire make for a good mix. A twirly also went well back aways, long time since I have rolled a smoke and sat and listened to some bugger telling lies across the fire.

I enjoy some of the herbal teas you can buy....ginger and lemon for one, also green tea..is an acquired taste but stick with it as it is very good for you.

I dont have sugar in tea even though my mum brought me up with two teaspoons because she had it....thankfully I weaned myself off that about 20 years ago and only have one stevia tablet when I have a coffee...but I can go without that as well, and often do.

Only have one coffee a day usually...tea or green tea rest of day.
