Might be a good idea to listen tonight at 7.20 - 2SM Sydney

Graeme Gilbert has been trying to get Jenny Macklin on air to talk about "The
Age Pension" for ages. :) (no pun intended) Success.....She has agreed at last... so tonight at 7.20 - 2SM Sydney on the radio (we listen via the net). Lets hope she gets all the questions asked, everyone wants to know, and she answers, so everyone understands, and does not "beat around the bush". Seems more are confused than ever, so lets hope it is cleared up and Age Pensioners get the answers everyone needs.
All the best
Phyl.

I have just looked that up for the right position on the radio ant seems to be 1269AM ?

Yep Jane that's it.....

http://www.2sm.com.au/ (Just click the Listen online button on the far right)

Thanks for that --does listening to it on the net take a lot of downloads ?

We have 2-1/2 gigs a month and I listen to talk back radio for 2 hours x 7 nights a week and rarely go over 2 gigs so radio uses little. I am grateful every night, I can get talk back as I love it and really enjoy Sydney and sometimes Adelaide as 3 A..W is a dead loss Friday nights now the football is on so it is a dead station as not even the footy. down here, and 3 A..W has no talk back Saturday nights and I get sick of "Remember When" Sunday nights so really fills the bill for me and I love Carter Sat. and Sun. nights, and Graeme the other 5 nights - Sydney is tops.

Phyl.

Well I had it all set up to listen and then the phone rang--so I missed the whole thing :( maybe you can post here what transpired --please--thanks

I too missed the interview, does anyone have some info on it or was it simply not worth commenting on?

Yes please any news on this program and what happened ???

Just reiterated what eveyone already knew really. I woud have liked people to have been able to phone in and ask questions. Two people phoned in after and really talked about how lucky people are to be getting pensions and that it is quite adequate and one lady was telling how well she managed and after that no talk on the subject. It is always a bit of a thought anyone can be a setup caller anyway.

As far as Jenny Macklin just what everyone already knew and how Age Pensioners were now pretty well o.k. because of the over $30 a week increase. I think the media in general is under the misguided belief ALL Seniors are now receiving over $120 more a month and should now be satisfied. No mention of any Christmas bonus at all.

BTW Peter and I both heard it said on the news a couple of days ago payments would start in July instead of September but appears a back flip and not going to happen.

Thanks for that update Phyl--IF and when I hear back form the PM re the email I sent I will also post it here.

Hi Phyl, I apparently didn't miss much behind the closed door. I queried the Christmas bonus with my local member & his Chief of Staff confirmed that there was no plan to make the $500 payment this year. She was not prepared to admit that the $10 raise in the married pension was just, in effect, getting the Xmas bonus on a fortnightly basis

True enough Mr. Innes you do not miss much. Some of the nasty statements towards you you could miss/should miss..... BUT. we did hear it said on the news the payments were going to start July instead of September. Let's be honest where marrieds are concerned won't buy

even a small sheep station so marrieds are not fussed waiting.

Self supporting retirees are worse off anyway.

BUT we have Aldi and every day is new. Don't worry Be Happy.

Hail Lefties :) Not bad news our Prime Minister has avoided a Recession....I think the rest of the

world might just be phoning him for tips but no need to be jealous and lucky us he is all ours.

Things are starting to look up..........
