Aviation Video: Concorde Descend and Landing (cockpit) | Patrick's Aviation

I'm given to understand that this pilot must have had a special dispensation to film this as it is illegal to talk other than between crew and the Tower when landing an aircraft.

Thanks very interesting

Although , not especially interested, I did find it fascinating to have the experience of watching everything in closeup of what goes on in the cockpit. I'll pass it on to someone who DOES have interest in aviation.

Thanks.

I enjoyed that. Thanks JamesGlue007. BTW, who was the 3rd person, behind, moving the throttles? Just out of interest, I managed to get into the cockpit of a 707 once & experience the approach to the old Hong Kong Airport. Passengers are lucky that they never get to see some of this stuff. If you want to see some real scary stuff, click on to You Tube & select worse landing ever.

Hi innes

In the old days we had a navigator along with a radio operator etc. My wife and I flew British airways from bankok to London in 1990 and were invited on to the flight deck.We were introduced to the captain and his co pilot. I asked the question, where are the rest of the crew. Answer, in between the co pilot and I . Meaning it was a computer, the third member was off duty. either asleep or socialising. Not sure which.

The Concorde crew has ,as the third member. a flight engineer ( or nowdays a computer expert) he was the one operating the throttles and looked after any alarm signals or problems occuring during the flight. The computer tells him all this.

Now days. as soon a a plane takes off and the undercarriage retracted, they are on automatic pilot to their next destination.

This , my friend, is what they call progress

To take your aviation theme a little further, Type {cockpit voice recordings) into your search engine and hear some tragic recordings if it is the sort of thing that interests you. Most have abrupt endings
