What's your favourite way to listen to music?

Last week Neil Young caused a stir in the music world by removing his music from many online streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Many audiophiles are up in arms about Mr Young's comments about the poor quality of digital streaming sound. Spotify and Apple Music are considered very good quality, but others, such as Pandora and YouTube are of a lower quality.

After reading his biography, Shakey, I know that Neil has a fantastic mixed collection of old and new recording equipment with which he records his albums. Knowing this, and never having had any issues with the sound quality of digital music, I was a little mystified about Neil's comments. That was until I was at a garage sale on the weekend where his album Harvest was playing on a turntable. Old vinyl, crackling warm tones – there are just certain albums that play better by classic means.

So, do you prefer digital recordings over the classic vinyl recordings? What is your preferred method of listening to music?

With my ears....if in the toilet...the door open helps, with some of this modern rubbish.

Yes I definitely agree Seth ears are the preferred method of listening but I think the new hearing aids by pass your ears ...

I don't listen to music these days I have MP3 on USB -- I have down loaded --for when I am in the car with interesting things on it and if at home I use a MP3 player to listen to same interesting interviews and such.  Because I find that there is so much crap on the radio, especialy on the commercial stations

Di you use Audio books Plan B

No Pete I download interesting things from Podcasts on the net,  Science / Nature / or interesting iinterviews of what ever or who ever I am interested in, there are many places that you can down load from just look up who you are interested in and see if they have any MP3 podcasts.

I would use the books if they were fact, never been into fiction

You can get heaps of nonfiction plan B but your right with so many podcasts who needs it ..

I think vinyl does sound best but I prefer CDs for ease and convenience. Not up with the latest gadgets but the kids are. My hubby and quite a few friends are big vinyl fanatics.

This is our favourite way of listening to old records, but it's only brought out on special occasions. Image result for image of his master's voice gramophoneNo, I'm not that old, we just like antiques, have a listen to this you tube video

Mostly parked in a very comfortable large rocking chair utilising a head set and listening to such music as the Tallis Scholars, Cantillation and Russian Choirs via CD and on line.

I do listen to other music but do not stray over much.

Radio stays on ABC FM.

I still find "Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on"To be my current favourite .

I also Like Waggon Wheel by some black guy ...

I'm gonna love you like I'm gonna lose you by Meghan Trainor and John Legend who also sing Marvin Gaye...

I like to listen to CDs in the car whilst I am travelling :)

Preferably Classics like Mozart or Wagner or even some Operas are enjoyable.
