Tax reform

Our current breed of politicians are gutless when it comes to tax reform . The current govt has raised tax . It has raised income tax at the highest rate it has raised petrol tax and has put everybody in a higher tax bracket by doing nothing on bracket creep ...

There is a direct link into the drop in union membership to now only 10 per cent of the work force ( and even those few are being dudded by unions doing deals that are worse than the award) and the rise in the contracting class .
People are voting with their feet to become their own small business why ?
Because the Paye are being dudded . They pay up to 50 per cent of their wages in tax and pay a health insurance ( Medicare levy) based on their income .
The Company tax is 30 per cent so what would anyone do given the opportunity ..
We have to recognise that we have to align the company tax with the income tax to make the system fair .
We should move to indirect tax on spending GST combined with a reduction in govt spending and an overall drop in tax ..

I thought the Warren Buffett idea put forward by Bill Shorten was a good one;   to make millionaires who earn over $350,000 a year pay a base rate of  35 cents in the dollar.

As a PAYE all my working life I paid what I owed; no fancy accounting loopholes to minimise tax and I think it is disgusting that many pay less than those who work for them.

That is a proposal by Abbo not shorten and it is not that Buffett pays less tax than his secretary but that his rate of tax is less on his personal income which comes back to my point of personal tax and company tax should be aligned . and spending should be taxed which can't be avoided .
