Catching honey possums in Torndirrup National Park

Researchers from the University of Western Australia (UWA) are spending their mornings chasing down the tiny marsupials to study their sugary diets.

I read that article Sandi, fantastic photos of that elusive but beautiful animal.

Gerry, I had never heard of the honey possum.  I wonder sometimes just how many animals there are in the world that we have never heard about because they haven't been discovered yet.

I must look up on Google to find out more information about these.  I think they are gorgeous.  I used to love the possums when I lived in NSW and many times when young headed up into the bush near our house to watch them.

Thanks Sandi

They are a delight ... too bad Ratus is not around ... he too would also be most interested :)

Unfortunately in most households they would be deemed and treated as mice.

I remember my neighbour telling me about the rats flying through her trees at night

.... my closer inspection showed sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps) a nocturnal gliding possum.

Saw these years ago when they were doing a research definitely 15 years ago at UWA. so tiny that to see in their pouches to check for babies they could only use a fine Auroscope.
