Copped her right whack I would say. Still has a big wage as a backbencher not to mention a good retirement super when she eventually goes. Pyne is as deliuded as Chopper Bishop if he thinks what he said.

The scandal has engulfed Parliament in recent weeks but, on Monday, the manager of government business, Christopher Pyne, told the House of Representatives that Mrs Bishop "has been felled in most unfair circumstances by politics today".

Bronnie apologised paid back the money plus 25 per cent and resigned. Berk the Perk has done nothing...

We are hoping that he will Pete --or be forced to

Treasurer Joe Hockey is the latest MP to have his travel expenses scrutinised after public documents by the Department of Finance revealed he had spent $14,000 on a trip from Sydney to Perth.

The reports show that Hockey travelled with his family interstate during school holidays in April 2013, costing taxpayers $8000 in airfares.

Hockey has defended the trip saying he had work meetings scheduled everyday during the 2013 election campaign and was further accompanied by his chief of staff.

But Greens Leader Richard Di Natale says there should be a new integrity commissioner assessing parliamentarians’ travel claims.

It’s starting to look like Bronwyn Bishop is an amateur.

Our new intrepid travellers, Burke and bills.

Nigel Cocks, Glenelg North, SA

Plan B do you really think so .. It appears that the coalition is held to higher account than Labor by our Media including YLC ..

WHY won't little billy shorten sack burke????????????????????????can you tell me why

burk has his snout deeper in the trough than Bronwyn ever did    and billy shorten short pants won't sack him

I think it is hilarious...now they are all being dobbed in.  I bet they wished they had never targeted Bronwyn now :)

Sad day - no honour among thieves anymore..

Here is another example of rorting on the Indian Pacific by 5 pollies here in WA.  Waldon did the trip to Darwin on the Ghan with his wife (gold class of course) and then  they did the Sydney to Perth.

Nobody including Abbott and Pyne could outdo chopper for rorting the system. she has been outdoing the others for decades.

Why the double standard ???

One for the women Bronwyn and one for all the men who had their nose s in the trough.

The Labor Party and the Media hounded Bishop until they forced Bronwyn from her position even though she was within the Rules of the Entitlement and had had repaid her her money as she may have thought it to be a bit extravagant.

Yet Burke who had his honey moon on the taxpayer, as well as flying his family around the countryside, although he himself thinks it may have been a bit extravagant will NOT pay the money back.

How different is it for a Politican to go to a Liberal fund raiser as opposed to a a Politician to go to a Labor Fundraiser ?

Yes it seems OK to fly to a Labor fundraiser and make a claim as Shorten and Swayne did.

Look how quickly both Libs and Labs hopped into bed together as some of the men started getting exposed with far greater extravagant expenses to Bronwyn Bishop.

It is about Ageism and Sexism.

Abby

Fundraisers are not govt business so not within the rules.

Geoff :)

Members of both Labor and Liberal Party think so

See what the reservation form says for the Labor Fund raiser :)

I see funding laws Abby not fund raiser.

Yes they need the names and addresses as they have to report money raised

If you charge $ 80 per head and it costs you $30 per head .. the rest is a donation to the Labor Party ... some donations are a lot larger.

I've actually attended one of those Fund Raisers some years back.

Names and addresses of Union members who fund the labor party might prove difficult.,

Dumbdee gets caught thieving from the public purse so blatantly, How to discount  the public outrage? it's not so bad, really. because the others do it too.

What has unions got to do with bishops thieving?

What about those secret business backers who fund the conservatives?

Your confected Outrage might have some validity if you also critiqued the far more outrageous scandal of Berk the perk and the corruption in the Labor Party ..

Bishop had form when it came to travel. On one occasion, between 1987 and 1988, she had allegedly hired a helicopter – again at taxpayers' expense – to take her from a fete to a dog show because, as her staffer Ellis Glover told me, she didn't want to be late.
But it was not just Bishop's travel expenses that caused concern among her colleagues. It was also her fundraisingmethods.
Four months before the 1990 federal election the state executive of the NSW Liberal Party ordered Bishop to stop going outside the organisation to raise funds for her re-election campaign. This followed a cocktail party in which she reportedly received pledges of up to $5000 a head, money she wanted to put into a private bank account for use as she saw fit.
Bishop was told this breached party guidelines. No member of parliament, or candidate, was entitled to accept money on the party's behalf for their own campaigning. That was the responsibility of the finance committee.
The guidelines on fundraising had, in fact, been clarified in 1985 when a memorandum had been sent to state divisions spelling out how money could be raised. Bishop was president of the NSW Liberal Party at the time.
"No one in modern political history could have been more aware of the fundraising guidelines than Bronwyn," former state director Peter Kidman told me. "Because it was unfortunately during her reign as president that the issue came to such a head."
Bishop was under siege again shortly after entering the lower house in 1994 when it was revealed that Rodney Adler's FAI Insurances had been paying the wages of a staff researcher during her last months in the Senate and her recent appointment as shadow minister for health. Bishop was forced to sack the employee when the Liberal Party's federal director, Andrew Robb, pointed out how this contravened the rules.

But no critisism of Shorten ?

why should there be criticism of Bill when the topic is about Bronwyn ?

Pete , you have enough topics going re Mr Shorten that noone else seems very interested in, prolly coz of all the lengthy , boring copy pastes from the most right wing lying media in the country.

I think it says it all when you have to continually find new articles to copy from and you are the only poster.

Others on here look for interesting topics.

I don't know when the SMH Or bill Shortens own blog became right wing media,

pit seems to be OK to use a thread on Bronnie to attack other coalition members but not Labor ?

Your finding only Critism of The coalition interesting and personal attacks on me really says it all...

where are the personal attacks pete ? Or is it possible that if I disagree with you then in your eyes it is a personal attack.

You really need to get out more  :)

Not at all Gerry I welcome debate , but you make me the topic ...

Grrrrrrrr - no more honey?????

Abby

There are rules and definitions which I disagree with regarding expenses though not all. They make the rules that they should abide by and some of those rules are not sufficient and too broad. However bishop broke even those lax rules and used a chopper when a comcar would have done the job. She has been rorting the system for decades. That Coulson in the senate ? would have to be the worst in living memory. A labor turncoat who got protection from Howard and the deputy speakers chair ? whatever which left both parties looking bad. Slipper not as bad was protected by the nats and libs till he also went off the reservation to become speaker.
