terrorist kills three, wounds nine

Just before midday last Friday, police in the Colorado Springs area responded to calls a gunman had stormed a local Planned Parenthood clinic and had opened fire. By the end of the afternoon, three people were dead and nine others injured. The man, 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, surrendered to police and was taken into custody. A law enforcement official has revealed that during his arrest, Dear made mention of "no more baby parts".

Let's make no bones about it. This is an act of terrorism, one of countless acts of terrorism executed against health care providers whose services include abortion and the women who access these services. In fact, it is one of at least 73 attacks on clinics that have been perpetrated since 1997.

I gather from reading the above that if a Muslim kills someone, then he is a terrorist but if a Christian kills someone then it is normal.

Gerry

Yeah... gets a bit tiring repeating this to people who just want to label Muslims and can't see beyond their own religious indoctrinations or racial views.

In many cases... it all comes back to the need of Western Govt to manufacture consent for their grossly illegal and murderous conduct and allegences in the Middle East.... so they feed the public these racial and religious biases to instil hatred.

With hatred comes the agreement of the people to continue their grossly illegal and murderous conduct for economic gain.

Why leave out the Atheist fanatics ?

To me all that cause a massacre killing like this, are all terrorist but it would not surprise me if this shooting was not related to the ISIS or some other such movement.... could have been sleepers ?

After all who goes home from a Xmas Party and comes back with wife and guns after dropping the kid off ??? Both proceeding to shoot people ?

It would seem that it was premeditated and good thing they were both shot.

Wonder what the role of the third person was ... maybe did not have time to plant bombs ?

Definitely Terrorism.

There is enough evidence out there to support the allegations that aborted baby parts are being used for research and big money is changing hands. I believe abortion is wrong unless it's for a specific reason, for example, jeopardising the mother's physical health or in the case of rape her mental health.

I can understand the outrage some feel, but this is no excuse for killing people. Whether it's an "act of terrorism" by this man and others like him, to force the government to make laws to prevent this happening, I don't know. However when I think of terrorism this sort of act does not seem to fit. Just my  opinion.

The Muslims of the West are truly peace-loving and distinct from those of the Middle East.

The Muslims of Malaysia and Indonesia are distinct from those of the Middle East.

When teachers were brought into Indonesia from the Middle East, there was a general outcry:  We don't want the Islam of Ryadah, a non-culture.

Muslims of the Middle East have been killing each other for hundreds of years due to religious differences. They continue to do so ... and will likely do so in the future

Muhomed himself had much blood on his hands.

Those who say that Muslims who kill are not Muslims are either willfully ignorant or mischievous.

Surely they are not so stupid to believe that the Muslims of the Middle East are not Muslim.

We have had Muslims in Australia since the 19th century, they are an important part of our history.  They are indistinct from other Aussies ... seen as no different and accepted as such.

Any problem of seeing Muslims as different, or even noticing them at all, came with Keating.  In order to capture the new Muslim vote he brought Hallali into this country.

He referred to our women as "cat's meat" and stated that our men weren't real men, because of our law against rape in marriage.  He then went on to make statements at complete variance with our culture ... and while defending rapists.

The fallout from this was appalling and for the first time in Australian history we had Muslim and Aussie clashes.

Since then, other "unfortunate" spokes-people for Islam have fuelled any problem.

Prior to this, Aussies didn't give any thought to Islam, but since then ...

geomac,

What are you rabitting on about.  The Army of God was indeed a terrorist organisation.  None question that.

However, this is vastly different from a deranged individual, who was also known to be odd at least, to acting on some belief.

If we are now going to conflate terrorism with every random act by any dotty individual ... does that include breaking a shop window .. or even grafitti, then the real serious issue of terrorism is going to become diminished.

Real issues of national security will be taken up by lesser bodies involved in day-to-day crime.

I am rather amused at the comments of some here.  They state they fear no terrorist acts.  Good.

This is because of the vigilance of our Security which has averted and quashed terrorist plots on Australian soil, not the least the terrorist plot regarding the MCG ... which would truly have been a major disaster.

I suggest, however, should a terrorist plot be successful in Australia, these very same people will be screaming about the ineffectiveness of our Security.

Okay.....

PRIOR to the USA bloody incursions and interference in the middle east what was there!!!!!

Did Afghanistan, interfere or impose their religion on any other country... not that I am aware of, they appeared to be insular.

Did Iran, prior to the USA disposing of the Iranian govt and inserting a murderous dictator... I don't know, as I never heard any thing about Iran, as a kid.  Well, not until the people had an uprising against this dictator and threw him and the USA and their bases out of their country.  Since, this time I have only been told that they are a bad people ......... BUT......... I have not known of one thing that Iran has done to the rest of the world... do you?  They have democratic elections, women are in parliament, Jews are in their parliament, as do other minorities in Iran.  I saw no terrorist activities or religious nutters.  I think they were too busy trying to survive after the USA put sanctions on them, even medicines whereby thousands of children died when they shouldn't have.  In Iran they are persain Shii not Sunni

Did Iraq, prior to the installation of a dictator by the USA who was used primarily to wage war on Iran for having the audacity to remove the USAs dictator and the USA from its country.... truthfully, I don't know but I do know that the WEST did not suffer religious or other terrorists from this country, then or now.  Iraq is mostly Shii with minority Sunni.

Did Libya, prior to the USAs direct attack and use of ISIS and Al Qaeda to take over Libya by murdering innocent people.  The country was secular, women at freedom, the country was prosperous, war lords that had lots of influence were effectively under control.  So I didn't see any terrorist activities from that country with the exception of one which was not a govt or secret service thing but a group of people not even living in Libya.  These terrorists were not RELIGIOUS terrorists but political ones. Libya is mainly Sunni.

Did Syria, prior to the USAs formed and funded nutter extremist fascist group, now being called 'moderate' Rebels, the west didn't suffer religious terrorist attacks..NO. Although the so called 'moderate' Rebels do a hell of a lot of torturing, beheading, chemical weapon use and raping of all that are moderate Muslims or Christians or homosexuals... essentially any that are not nutter extremist fascists.

**Saudi Arabia & other sunni Gulf States.... all run by Dictators and mostly brutal Dictators.... these countries are the source of Al Qaeda and ISIS.  They are Sunni majority.  These countries are the breeding ground for Religious NUTTER EXTREMISTS terrorists.  They are nurtured, trained, funded and armed by these dictators.  These are the countries SUPPORTED fully by the USA.

So, the only nutter extremist fascists come from USA backed countries.....

Now, on to the concept that those Muslims that are coming into Australia are religious terrorists.

Refugees:

Most refugees are turned away and are vetted that intensely they would never get into Australia... with the exception of our USELESS Security groups simply taking the word of Amnesty International and accepting that Sydney Iranian nutter - Man Haron Monis into Australia.... even though Iran told Australia that he was mental, a criminal and was wanted in Iran for serious offences.

Fly Ins:

Many people come from Saudi Arabia and other Sunni Gulf States with visas or immigrate if they have sufficient money.  Most people who have money don't bother with Religious terrorism, but there is always the exception (Bin Laden).

So, shouldn't we be asking the USA why their 'friends' have created, funded, trained and armed ISIS and Al Qaeda, in order to terrorise the world in the name of some 'warped' version of the Muslim religion. It should be recognised WHERE these nutters are coming from and that prior to USA driven, Saudi (ISIS/Al Qaeda) interference in the middle east... there were few nutters in Iran, Iraq, Libya and Syria.

MUSLIMS per se do not have a lot of blood on their hands....... but the USA and Saudi/Gulf States with their 'created' nutter extremists, DO!

The USA is a Christian nation.... it is the biggest terrorist of them all. Then comes Saudi Arabia and its Sunni Gulf States.

Hence it is NOT a religious thing but the same old, same old.... MONEY and POWER.

Mussitate,

There really is a lot of blood being spilt in the Middle East.

In Iraq 255 people were executed including boys under 18 yrs in one week alone ... reported 2nd July.

In Libya summary executions are the norm.

Syria ... civil war

Iran ... 246 public executions for the first half of 2015 - gays are executed as a matter of course.

Up until two years ago, girls of 9 years of age and boys of 14 years were liable for execution under the Iranian Islamic penal code.

Add to all this the killings by ISIS and other rebel groups in the name of religion.

I absolutely agree with you about Saudi Arabia and the Sunni Gulf States.

I personally know Iranians - highly intelligent, well educated and independent thinkers.  Without exception they are all apostates of Islam ... and one avoids at all costs raising the subject of Islam.  They came to Australia to get away from the Iranian regime which they state quite openly is evil. One said that he refused to live in a country which considered women worth half that of a man.

Mussitate,

Reporters without Borders have reported that Can Dunbar, editor of Turkey's leading newspaper, Cumhuriyet, and his Ankara bureau chief, Erdem Gul, have been imprisonned since late November and face 25 years in gaol.  This is due to the fact that they claimed in an article that Turkey's National Intelligence Cerganizati (MIT) had been deliverying arms to ISIS.

And yes, there has been bloody conflict between and within Islamic states in the Middle East;  particularly between Sunni and Shi'a Muslims.  This is the result of colonial interests dividing up the Middle East with pencil and ruler, forcing disparate groups to live with each other, who had traditional emnitites.

One only has to look at the original map, prior to colonial intervention, to see how the number of Islamic states "increased" due to the actions of colonial powers.  From a few states to many

Will this have any effect or just inflame?
