Seniors Policital Party

Sounds like you folk are fed up too. I still have a valuable contribution to make to this life and know only too well the problems of the senior citizens who aren't rich.

I was made redundant in April and now out on the scrap heap at 65. KRudd and his government are now wanting to raise the pension age to 67. Who is going to get a job at that age.? I've been getting the interviews, but once they meet me and see I don't have a low cut top and can actually hold an intelligent conversation and answer questions they don't really want me to answer, you can see the result of the interview, before you are dismissed. They want my experience but won't pay for it!

Anyhow, enough of my ranting. Seniors need more than a one bedroom poky little hole to live in and this is one aspect of aging which needs addressing. I rent privately and a more realistic amount of rental assistance is long overdue. After paying $500 per fortnight in rent, I only have $187 left for food, insurances, car registration and maintenance, clothes, prescriptions, entertainment, etc. Another concern is the appalling wait for medical specialist appointments, dental care and the ghastly spectacles frames we are expected to wear, just because we are age pensioners.

You can see I have concerns about how seniors are treated and I am very interested in what you are trying to set up. I'll watch with interest.

Hi, I am glad that some one is thinking of the future for us Seniors. I hate to say this but a lot of people winge but will not do any thing & expect others to do it for them.Good on you mate & if there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to ask. As was mentioned earlier that we get what what we deserve, sorry but I have never & never will vote for labour after they stuffed up with the introduction of Medicare. In my opinion ACCC, ASIC & APRA are being paid for doing any thing but saving people from losing their money from shonky businesses. I too approached my Federal MP with afew questiond but alas I too got a reply from the Finance & Superannuation Minister which I felt was a waste of my time as they never answer the question but beat around the bush.

I am a fully self funded retiree & manage our SMSF & waiting to see if they are going to make it Compulsory for us to have Allocated Pensions & if so I will be running with my money out of our SMSF & probably leave the country because of Politicians who care only for themselves.

Thanks.Richard
