The future King of Thailand

No wonder you are not allowed to talk, write, report anything in Thailand about the Royal family.

I knew vaguely what he had been up to but was amazed at what I read. Numerous reports all over the world about his background.

Hope he does not become King for the sake of decent Thai people;  don't think he wants the job anyway;  enjoying life as a playboy on the world stage is more to his liking I would think.

Thailand's military government will ask other countries to extradite people suspected of insulting the nation's monarchy following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The country has begun a year of mourning and sensitivities are running high following the death of the revered king last week after seven decades on the throne.

Criticism of the monarch.. the regent or the heir.. known by the French term "lese majeste".. is a crime that carries up to 15 years jail in Thailand.

The junta said it has been tracking six high-profile lese majeste suspects living abroad who have tried to stir up unrest in Thailand and will ask for their extradition. They say:

"We will ask for co-operation, friendship and respect from these countries and we hope they understand all Thais cannot accept these insults," Justice Minister Paiboon Koomchaya told reporters.

Paiboon conceded there were significant legal and diplomatic challenges around seeking the extraditions but he would proceed regardless.

What a cheek in my opinion...it will never happen of course...

Yes Thea, the sycophantic comments around the world after the king's death are starting to fade now that veryone is realising how corrupt and dictatorial the Thai system is.

And you think that Australia is not corrupt ????? please gime a break look at the poletitians we have to start then look around and you will find corruption around the corner .....

Read the daily news and look at the Victoria and other states police and other goverment areas corruption

Please

A "look-over-there" post.

Of course Australia isn't perfect, but it's one of the less corrupt places in the world, and we don't yet have too many laws preventing us from talking about the corruption.

But the subject here is Thailand, where even talking about corruption will get you in trouble.

You are quite right Aussie we have the most corrupt Politicians in the world who are mismanaging the Taxpayer funds for their own benefit

"....we have the most corrupt Politicians in the world"

ROTFLMAO.

That's just silly

Really makes me wonder how these creeps become worshiped -- it must be through fear and threat -- what creeps they mostly are --

Are the people easy led -- threatened -- ?

Here we go again - the topic is about the future king oF Thailand, not Australia. No wonder every thread turns into chaos. Thailand is the topic, yep T H A I L A N D

It is conversation in SUB _ TOPIC

Hence just gloss over it .. and move on ...

your complaints are OFF TPIC too  .....

in an ideal world  you would have put it as a REPLY in the SUB TOPIC are where it belongs

Ah well, I say to myself, why bother????

In normal conversations things always get a bit off topic -- we can always get back on as needed

That's not the point PlanB. We're always discussing Australia. There are other countries in the world and it's nice to discuss what's happening "over there"

I agree with Reagan and Ray. Thailand is the topic.

The mourning period is affecting all sorts of activities in Thailand, e.g. soccer.

Australian football fans must tone down their dress and resist chanting or any "joyful activities" if they want to support the Socceroos at their World Cup qualifier with Thailand at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium on November 15.

"Football Federation Australia has asked fans to respect a number of requests it said were from the Sports Authority of Thailand, including that clothing for spectators "shall be in polite manner with suggested colours such as white, black, grey and preferably with no designs on them".

Banners, drums, trumpets, flags, megaphones, whistles and cheering sticks have been banned from the stadium, while FFA said the Sports Authority of Thailand had said fan chants would be strictly prohibited both inside and around the venue."

All this to mourn a despotic and corrupt regime. Would be interesting to see the behaviour of Aussies visiting or living there and how many will be thrown into jail.

Seems like it is like this in so many Asian places they are frightened not to do exactly as they are ordered to or they will be shot tortured or such -- fancy living under those conditions

Quite right, it's no life. Always looking over your shoulder. One day the world will get rid of all of these despots.

WE can only hope Ray, all dictators need to be stopped

It looks like it will be a rather quiet Soccer match, after all, it's the chanting, flag waving and colour that makes it such a wonderful spectical.

From the article RnR posted above

"The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) had sought to move the match out of respect for the long-reigning monarch, who died earlier this month aged 88.

But FFA on Friday confirmed the 2018 World Cup qualifier would be played at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium as originally scheduled, and asked fans to respect local customs and a series of requests from the Thais."

I cannot understand why the 2018 World Cup qualifier cannot be held elsewhere as Thailand requests.Just wahat is wrong with Football Federation Australia (FFA) ???  It is all about money and no respect for any body else.

Perhaps they can use flares in Thai national colours.

Google is removing content that offends the Thai royal family from YouTube.
