Well; so much for the new leader of the Liberal Party being the death knoll for the Party. Following on the debacle of the Turnbull fiasco, Tony Abbott's results yesterday were amazing. Exit polls showed that the pundits were wrong again. The Labor machine had suggested a massive fall out from the women voters. It didn't eventuate. The loss of support was approximate 1% for both men & women, an amazing result.
Lindsay Tanner has been very critical of the Liberal ability to run the economy. Talk about hypocracy. Labor started just over 2 years ago with $21 billion in the bank & the official figure, for the June 2009 Quarter showed a deficit of $13.3 billion for only that 3 months.

All the political pundits got it wrong. ;-)

Yes, politics certainly has some strange twists and surprises........I would have bet my house that Joe Hockey would be leading the Libs now.

Yes, politics certainly has some strange twists and surprises........I would have bet my house that Joe Hockey would be leading the Libs now.You are right, this is what the voters think (Morgan Poll)

Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey (31%) is still clearly the voter’s preferred Liberal Leader ahead of new Opposition Leader Tony Abbott (26%), former Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull (19%) and Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop (9%).

I stand by my original prediction of over 15 months ago. Joe Hockey will be the next Liberal/ Nat Prime Minister. I still think Tony Abbott, as good as he is, will lose badly to KRudd next year & the Party will toss him out, in their normal way, in order to install Jo, ready for the following election.

oe Hockey was the choice of Labor and the left wingers - being one himself. As was Turnbull. Media loved them both and hoped to keep them running the Liberal non-opposition.

Now at long last we do have an real Opposition and not a "me too" duopoly which those two certainly were on an ETS or anything else not left of centre.

Sour grapes from Labor supporters here methinks
