Canberra and Climate Change. June 2017 & how does it affect our economy?
What is Turnbull going to do about it?
These are all attention grabbing headlines and if one were to go into the intricacies of it all, we'd find a lot of flaws and IMO not the great cause for alarm as promulgated by some news reporters who have not done their homework. Al Gore said that by 2013 most of the earth would be under water, it's 2017 and to the best of my knowledge it has not happened, but he is getting richer by the minute saying it.
Of course there is"climate change" - the earth has been cooling and warming since time immemorial, no one can stop that. We can help by reducing the use of fossil fuels, but people whinge when they have to pay for it. It doesn't help when people cannot see that "global warming" is only a part of "climate change."

Chinese developer Phillip Lee sparks ire of his Port Stephens neighbours with a quarry DA
Chinese property developer Phillip Dong Fang Lee has again left locals in the Port Stephens area near his Bundabah property up in
Arms, this time over his proposal for a quarry on the bushland site that was once hoped to be a national park.
The 400-hectare property adjoining Myall Lakes National Park is already subject to stop work and clean up orders by the Land and
Environment Court amid concerns to threatened species, unauthorised land clearing and road works.
More than 150 locals crammed into the local community hall on the weekend and voted overwhelmingly against Mr Lee’s latest proposal
For a quarry allowing the extraction of 25,000 cubic metres of rock he hopes to use to build a road through the property to his already approved
Private jetty and an 11-bedroom mansion atop Fame Mountain.
I must have read the wrong article because I thought Mr Lee only wanted to build a holiday home on the site. To build you've got to dig. I believe he is the victim of council red tape.
In 2005 a bid was made for 90% of it to be designated a national park in exchange to have an eco village on 40 hectares. I can't remember who made that bid, but the kiboch was put on it. The point is, a year later it was sold to Mr.Lee. Why?
Something is not right here and I personally don't think the culprit is Lee.
Turnbull government moves to force down power prices, could back new coal plant
Measures announced by Mr Turnbull include already flagged restrictions on gas exports. Photo: Alex Ellinghausen
Absolutely support Turnbull's moves reported here to bring down power prices, including use of OUR coal if required by clean-coal technology - to ensure adequate supply and bring down prices, instead of simply exporting it to the rest of the world. Producing power for our small population by any means cannot impact the climate - ridiculous to kick ourselves down with China & India laughing all the way for decades to come. However, Turnbull also needs to cap power price increases to "CPI only" right NOW!
attila, you are an other excellent example of those having been brainwashed, "killer heat waves are on the rise" maybe you could give us at least some examples as latest figures show the average temperatures over the world are well down by one to 2 degrees, as are the storms, as are the hurricanes, your frivolous remark about the melting of ice, nasser's study showed a net increase gain of 194 BILLION tons of ice as for stating the rains have deserted us, just ask yourself why are all those desalination plants, put up at great cost to the taxpayer are now put in mothballs. As for stating you are all up in arms in port stephen's about a neighbour wanting to put a road into his property, so easy to fix, buy his property, I'll bet you have a road to your property! don't give us the usual excuses of threatened species, land clearing etc, don't tell us the land you build your house on did not have any animals, insects, possums, trees or else living on it, did you think of these when you build your house, I don't think so and as for even thinking that electricity from wind or sun will be enough to keep this great country of ours, AUSTRALIA, on the map and give our kids and grandkids the great life simular as we had, it just shows us the damage you and your mates hope to inflict on our country
47% of Perths water is now supplied by our 2 desalination plants and even so we are on restricted use on gardens, so our desalination plants are absolutely essential to Perth which with dryer weather and an expanding population we would not survive without them.

First please don't assume anything! I post interesting articles that a lot of people enjoy reading. Like these here.
Because they are interesting doesn't necessarily mean I believe in all of them.I have always kept an open mind, I don't wear blinkers!
Having been to Norway and the Artic we have seen the melting glaciers. I shall always remember one I was at and the guide explained they were waiting for a vet's plane to come out the end where we were standing. It crashed pre WWII.
If you click onto 'killer heatwaves' you will notice an article will open up to you for your reference.
Western Australia has two desalination plants in operation. That's where our family lives. Please read the article before you start opening your mouth.

attila, after reading your comments the term you used "dummies" comfirmed it all about yourself.
Don't take this person to heart Attila, just another Right Wingnut who believes in the freedom of speech, just as long as it doesn't not contradict party propaganda.
I think if we wanted to use the term "dummies" to categorise people we need only to look back to the comments made previously on this site. Not that I think we should, I have always thought that labels on people are a waste of time as they are more often wrong than right.
I thought you would be interested in this story I found on MSN: Giant Antarctic iceberg breaks free of Larsen C ice shelf http://a.msn.com/01/en-au/BBEhDRq?ocid=se When I first read this I asked myself has this happened before in the history of our planet? Is this a natural reoccurring fact of our world? Or should we be wary of the ice breaking off?
Don't think I would want to go swimming in the Pacific Ocean after this news!

Russian tanker sails through Arctic without icebreaker"
The £234 million ($300 million) Christophe de Margerie (main image) completed the journey from Hammerfest in Norway to Boryeong in South Korea (inset image) in just 19 days. The ship completed its Arctic journey 30 per cent quicker than it would have along the alternative route, via the Suez canal. Despite the ship having its own icebreaker, it has previously been impossible to traverse the icy route without a separate icebreaker escort. But using just its integral icebreaker, the tanker took just six and a half days to travel the northern sea section of the Russian Arctic, a new record. Experts claim that climate change is to blame, as warming temperatures thaw the region's frozen waters.
A third of the world now faces deadly heatwaves as result of climate change
