Turnbull v Abbott

Australian government in turmoil: Tony Abbott vows to 'outlast' Malcolm Turnbull and return to the leadership of the Liberal Party - and then 'pick up the pieces' when the party falls apart

Tony Abbott to 'outlast' Turnbull to return to Liberals

Former prime minister Tony Abbott declared he would be staying in politics as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull comes under pressure over party unity. Speaking at an address in Brisbane on Tuesday night, Mr Abbott (right) said he would not disappear from the limelight. 'I'm in no hurry to leave public life because we need strong Liberal conservative voices now, more than ever,' he said. Mr Abbott, who was rolled by Mr Turnbull two years ago, assured he would be there to help pick up the pieces 'when' the prime minister's leadership fell apart. Tensions within the Turnbull government were exposed this week but Mr Turnbull (left) denied his leadership was under threat.

...... Abbott needs to stop being such an angry bitter "ousted" ex-Prime Minister!

In 1984, aged 26, Tony Abbott entered St Patrick's Seminary, Manly. Abbott did not complete his studies at the seminary, leaving the institution in 1987. “I discovered pretty soon that I was a bit of a square peg in a round hole … eventually working out that, I'm afraid, I just didn't have what it took to be an effective priest." Other records infer, he questioned the powers that be and was virtually asked to leave.

Abbott worked in journalism, briefly ran a concrete plant, and began to get involved in national politics. Throughout his time as a student and seminarian, he was writing articles for newspapers and magazines: first for Honi Soit and later The Catholic Weekly and national publications such as The Bulletin. He eventually became a journalist and wrote for The Australian.

Been following his antics for quite a few years now and IMO he’s an abrasive, divisive character who loves to upset the status quo and all the attention he gets when doing so … but totally without the qualities needed, if and when he achieves his ‘upset’ objectives, and has to assume leadership himself. Big mouth ... little value.

Wish he would just fade away ASAP.

lol - cool - yeah  - good one RnR - "fade away" gone - nasty piece of work!

Abbott needs to reinvent himself.

How many single mums in the 1980s had to go back to school to learn a new career so that they could find a position to earn a living.    Why can't Abbott do the same?

All so true RnR -- Abbott has never made good of anything he has done -- and he will continue to make bloody menace of himself

It just proves that the most important issue for the government is who leads the party.  Running the country effectivley is just not in the race.  Personal glory trumps the good of the voter, when will we learn?

He must be getting confidence from some backers for him to keep on keeping on surely?

Goodness knows why though.

Wish we had someone that could be called a Statesman, looking through the politicians I

cannot see one on the horizon.

Like the bad blood between krudd and Australia's worst pm ever, it has become personal.

Finally some entertainment from an otherwise boring lot of pretenders.

The Anglosphere is in danger of throwing away its prosperity and hard won freedom when politicians of the ilk of Bernie Sanders , Jeremy Corbyn , And Bill Shorten stand  a chance of heading a Government .

Trouble is Julian they are paid to be statesmen/women and run the country, not to be entertainers!

Did anyone get a copy of this letter from the government recently? My friend got one last week so I thought I'd share it with you. Dear Senior Citizens, Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the economy , the Govt. has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 60 and over on early mandatory retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment. This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retired Aged People Early). Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to the Govt. to be considered for the SHAFT programme, (Special Help After Forced Termination). Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW programme (System Covering Retired-Early Workers). A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as the Govt. deems appropriate. Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income For Dependents and Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Servrence). Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by the Govt. Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. The Govt. has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.

Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your M.P. who has been trained to give you all the SHITyou can handle.

Sinceely, The Committee for Economic Value Of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L)

P.S. Due to the recent budget cuts and the rising cost of Electricity, Gas and Oil, as well as current Market conditions.

The Light At the End of the Tunnel has been Turned Off.

I hope I have not offended anyone, but this needed to be brought to our attention.

Take Care, and have a nice weekend.

Good one Hola, so you read city-data.com, haha

Hi Hola

That one has been doing the email rounds for years , wayyy before social media

remember friends sending this around at work a dozen or so years ago.

still a good laugh :)

It does not matter who runs the party, hopefully it will go after the next election.  This is a party like most on the Right that is trying to convince us to trade freedom for safety.  If this happens we will be governed by a Dictatorship.

Worst Prime Minister ever?  I think Tony has now earned that title.

Nope

still a toss up between Krudd  and Juliar

Abbott the worst ever PM and the most untrustworthy person ever in Parliament the one quickest to break EVERY promise he ever made --- even to say

"there would be NO sniping"

There seems to be a split in the LNP - the leftie side run by Malcolm and friends and the old die hard conservatives (with Tony and friends).   Remember when Malcolm crossed the floor to vote with Labor's emissions trading scheme, we said then he was more Labor minded than Liberal and it appears we were right - he's in the wrong party lol

I admire a politician who can put petty party politics aside in order to do the right thing.  Do we really want an extreme Right Wingnut in charge.  Maybe we really need someone who is more centred.

I'm afraid I can't think of one politician in Canberra at the moment who I admire.

No ex PS  we do not need this far right lot -- no feelings for anyone except themselves and the big end of town

I think it is like having a choice between Aids and Syphilis

Now that comment made me smile

; )) Toot --- I am also unable to think of one Pollie that I could vote for at this time

I agree PlanB, I look at the policies these days and try to leave personalities out of it.  It.s still hard, but as we hardly ever see a politicians real personality these days it is easier to just pick the policies that are important to you.

TRue ex PS,  however none of them seem to have in store what is important for us and the country -- just all for the mining / money and wrecking the place  -- we need empathy/jobs and be real fair dinkum in looking after the planet

And none of the fun that goes with catching either of the diseases PlanB. Isn't there someone in Australia who is statesman like and only has a vision for the future of Australia that can come on to the scene? Our land is being sold out from under us and all that's on Abbott's mind is 'I must get Turnbull'. For pity sake you are supposed to be running our country not for an electoral period but for the future and none of you are doing a very good job, either side.

Yes Plan B I like your humour!  LOL
