Hi strong disagree JFC, I've never been on another site so I can't comment on them but I can comment on this one. For me personally, I think the reason it's such a great place to hang out, is because there is a 'lack of moderation' that you mentioned. You remind me very much a a kid in school who would run to the teacher and say "Sir, sir, he did this to me, please chastise him". Bollocks I say. You've admitted its like a Sunday School Picnic here, get a life mate and let people sort out their own problems without the 'teacher' intervening.

The problem here, Toot2000, is, that anyone who has more personality than a wet sponge is termed a bully.

toot2000 sorting out our own problems is precisely what many are complaining about. In any group of people, you will always get a few who wont obey the rules, cant see opinions other than their own or just enjoy offending or embarrassing others and there often needs to be some form of intervention. In the wider community, we have Police, for example.

If we continue to handle our own problems as you suggest, the site simply becomes a battle ground of sniping and insults which benefits neither the forum or its members. Its a sad fact of human nature that, left to our own devices, we tend to fight, and it is often those who most enjoy the confrontation or aggravation who object to their actions being policed.

If people are simply polite and respectful while expressing their diverging opinions, they need never hear from moderators.

I apologise for going off at you, I'm in a bad mood today. I totally disagree however, the site is just fine for me the way it is. :P

Nicely put said Kfchugo. Be nice if anyone took notice.

Some say never been to any other forums but I have seen a couple here who do but one has succumbed to the gang mentality - sad.

I missed it but I think Koko posted up Internet Etiquette and it was taken off. So a bit of moderation took place there and not for the better.

Like society -without rules every forum would devolve into bullying tactics by a group - this is human nature.

Pity is this forum is well on its way to doing just that because a few have decided they do not want to discuss anything which pertains to politics and since they have been given a place to do so - general discussion - it is sad that they now try to bully others into interrupting any discussion on hot topics which usually are political as is life in the 21st century.

It is politics that decide if age pensioners should be granted a rise or if the renters should get a proper market appraisal of their rent allowance which is stuck back in the 20th century and does not reflect the rise in rents caused by the rise in immigration and a shortage of housing to accommodate even the last 2008/9 intake of all categories of just under 1 million people.

So politics is a subject that does actually interest most pensioners.

If you mean Clay, Big Val hasn't he been here longer than any, or most of us?

Clay posts jokes and all variety of topics and answers others in Hot Topics so I suppose the rest of us follow a long standing member's direction. Would you be best to ask the administrators to add a note on the heading of Hot Topics "just for Political discussions"? Would this help stop the angst? I do not post a lot as not home a lot but when I am I like to read posts and to be honest do not care where I read them. I see Koko posts about baking and Toot poems, in amongst other topics but I think they also have been here a very long time so the rest of us newer people just follow their lead.

Enjoying holidays this week so fun to read. Have to admit elders know how to battle it out just like all ages.

Some get a bit nasty re giving kfchugo a raspberry is not very nice as he really does talk a lot of commonsense.

What ever a member decides to .......either do or not do ........is entirely their decision and if you or others do not like that then too bad..............Why do you constantly criticise others and be demeaning in your attitude ...........it beats me why ........I do not know

...

As was mentioned I could point members here to other sites which make this one look like a church kindergarten by comparison ............(I. pinched that bit from Hugo I think it was )............this site is a good one except for angry comments mostly made by a couple of people...........they just have to do it maybe as a way of exerting their so called dominance over us .............but I tell you that if I am attacked then I will give tit for tat

...

I do not like Administrators making forum comments ..........its often their way ( not these people )of wanting members to think as they do and one site in particular is so dominated in this fashion that some new members leave after a short time ...........Its as though the whole of that forum is structured around the forum owner ..............Not for this little black duck

...

We are having a debate and thats for sure but I do not think that there will be a clear winner................not that we really need one ................clay
