Feeding baby like a bird

Vegan and environmental activist Alicia Silverstone, who was voted by PETA as the world's sexiest female vegetarian (it is apparently ok for PETA to use attractive female bodies for advertising), has reported in her blog that she feeds her infant like a bird.  Alicia chews the toddler's food and he comes to her and eats it out of her mouth.

The 35-year-old Clueless star has posted her video to promote the practice with other mothers.
"I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum!" she wrote on her blog,
"I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup… from my mouth to his. It’s his favourite... and mine.
"He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating."
The video shows Silverstone chewing up some food from a bowl before letting her 10-month-old son Bear Blu eat it out of her mouth.

Doctors might not agree with the whacky idea that a mother chewing a baby's food would provide useful enzymes from her mouth.  Then there is the not so small matter of bacteria and things mum may have contracted like herpes.

Others worry about the psychological implications.

Now in matters like this where the argument relies on 'mother knows best' and mum has the 'right' to do as she pleases with 'her' child, I find it useful to reverse the sexes as a test.

So I am wondering why Ms Silverstone and her supporters don't similarly recommend that the dad Christopher Jarecki similarly feed infant Bear Blu Jarecki, or maybe Bear Pink Jarecki if it was a girl.

I call it child abuse.

Hope no-one was enjoying lunch when they read this.

After reading that, and earlier, reading Bob Brown's 'fellow earthians' speech (as much as I could, that is)  elsewhere, I'm beginning to suspect evolution has come to a standstill....indeed, going backwards.

And yes....I agree, child abuse.
