Movie Review

Anybody interested in watching a good movie? I saw last week the movie PALM BEACH. I loved it. It's about a group of lifelong friends who gather for a special birthday. The scenery is beautiful. The music score great and the acting terrific. It took me back to the 80's when we had special dinner parties with old friends, and usually ended up with some bringing up old issues and maybe too much grog!!  But they were special times and I'd do anything to relive them. Bryan Brown, Greta Scacchi, Sam Neill and Richard E. Grant.  And it's lovely to see some carrying a bit of weight and not a sign of Botox to hide the wrinkles. *****

Let us know what it is like :)

Well Toot ...what was it like ? Is it worth seeing ?

HI HOLA,   yes,  i did know PETER LAWFORD was in the RAT PACK,     couldnt understand FRANKIE letting him in,   he was a ponsie looking kind of bloke,        these remakes of films are rare;y as good as the original,    PLAN B,    i can understand if you dont like musicals,    [i love them]    but the live show of CATS was vy veey good,     i dont think this film will be very good,    i have seen a few shorts of it,   JUDI DENCH will never make a singer,    she sounds woeful,    the only one that seems ok is that JAMES CORDEN,   [i think that is his name,    does one of the late night shows,   he seems ok,     but i have ordered the dvd,  so will watch that,    I watched JUDY   last night,   [im not a judy garland fan,   ] but RENEE ZELLWEGER,    is ver vwery good,    i think she is in line for the oscarm    managed to get that movie THE IRISHMAN,    great cast,  and a looong show,   but not as good as i expected,

I agree I never liked Judy either.

I much preferred Peter Lawford to Frank!  Could never take to Frank.

Although she was a hugely important asset, Fox was massively underpaying the actress compared to the amounts other actors and actresses had in their contracts at the time. During contract negotiations, Marilyn refused to film any additional movies until her terms were improved and instead pivoted to focus on her personal life.

Dubbed a 'shrewd businesswoman' by Time, Monroe's new seven-year contract with Fox also promised to pay her $10,000 for each of her next four films and gave her the ability to choose her own projects and their directors — something that was virtually unheard of in this era.

Finally, Marilyn gained worldwide acclaim not just for her beauty and comedic chops, but for her talent as an actress. Things weren't perfect for Marilyn, however. The star struggled with her addiction to barbiturates (and an overdose around this time) and her chronic lateness, which frustrated many of the directors, choreographers and actors she worked with. A gorgeous straight-haired Marilyn sits alongside Clark Gable and Thelma Ritter in a still for the last film the actress would complete, The Misfits in 1961. Although her husband had written her role, their marriage was essentially over and the filming process was very taxing for Marilyn, who was also struggling with declining health due to drug addiction and gallstones.

Joe DiMaggio returned to Marilyn's life around this time and helped support her through her illnesses and depression. Ultimately, though, the troubled star died on August 4, 1962. DiMaggio planned Monroe's funeral and sent roses to her grave three times a week for 20 years after. It's rumored he believed she was the love of his life.

Papers around the world reported that the beautiful actress died alone. Many, however, have questioned the circumstances surrounding her death in relation to the affairs she had with Jack and Bobby Kennedy, as well as Frank Sinatra.
