There ought to be a moratorium on retiree earnings
Right now, farmers can't get workers to pick fruit and vegetables. Many able-bodied retirees could do this work, but won't because of penalties. Those on a pension can earn up to $300 per fortnight. Earnings above that are included in the income test. Wouldn't it be an idea to triple the 'work bonus' ($900 per fortnight) over the coming months to attract those capable of working to the food belts and help the economy?
Do these Fruit Farmers have a good profit?
Husband and I are comparing this situation with the Milk Industry and those farmers don't get a profit in some cases!
They are driven out of business, is this applying to all Australia's Farmers and Agricutural Industries.
