Hidden away on page 18 of the Daily Mail, is this legit.

"Opposition Leader Tony Abbott could face a police inquiry into allegations he offered a foreign posting to Liberal MP Alex Somlyay if he quit politics.

Warning the alleged offer in 2010 could be in breach of the Commonwealth Electoral Act that carries "criminal penalties", the Labor Party has referred the allegations to the Australian Federal Police.

NOT reported in most mainstream media.....WHY NOT???????  You may well ask.  Mainstream media have not stopped carrying on about what Craig Thomson did when he was involved with a Union.  

Why have they NOT reported this MAJOR story on their front pages.....bias, one might ask.  Reporting only those things that reflect badly on the Labor Party and not the Liberal Party and then raging for days on a small issue to make it bigger than it really is.  

To lead the people by the nose to their (elite wealthy) point of view.....so that they will vote for a party that represents the wealthy elite and NOT vote for a party that (is supposed) to represent the people.  Think about it!

Strange.  Abbott is in trouble because it is alleged that he offered a post to Somlyay if he quit Politics.No accusations from the labor Party re Windsor, Oakeshott, Wilkie & Bandt.   No allegations, just bought & paid for.  Of course we wont mention the deal with the Greens & how Slipper was paid with the appointment as Speaker & his appointment on the Foreign Affairs Board.  You should be in politics Mussitate.

Arh yes,  Windsor, Oakeshott, Wilkie & Bandt were offered everything or anything by the begging but arrogant Abbott but they had already been elected and the enticements were about getting them to support Abbott and form a minority government.  Not illegal (apparently).

We are talking illegalities, innes and you know it.

Again, you are merging and manipulating different things to play down an illegality, simply because it is your sectarian leader.  Whereas, with Craig Thomson, you go for the jugular.

I do normally enjoy your discussions but currently your sectarian 'slip' is showing ...sigh...  which makes it difficult to interact without abrasion, so will stop here. 

In regard to me being in politics. Not possible, my standards and morals are way to high and because I wouldn't compromise on issues important to Australia, I wouldn't last long.

It is your biased sectarian BS that gets boring mussitate.  You want to hang Abbott for making an offer to 1 member, but it is quite OK for Gillard to not only make an offer, but the offers were actually accepted & paid for by the 4 Independant that you mentioned ( except Wilkie, who did not collect) & 1 Lib/Nat.   You are a hypocrite.  You have made it reasonably clear that you are involved at Board level with one of the Multi Nationals that you claim are ruining the World.  But you are happy to accept a salary from them.  You have found Abbott guilty of possible breaches that he has not even been charged with & in my opinion, never will be.  But, as usual you know better than even the Attorney General.  You say that you normally enjoy my discussions.  An unadulterated lie.  Every comment that I have made on this forum, since you joined,  you have accused me of defending my hero & you have added generalities & even stated to one & all that I am American.  Like most political critics, Lib or Labor, you are totally incapable of making an unbiassed opinion.  I have actually been a member of the Liberal Party for 1 year & many years ago I was a member of the Labor Party & on the executive of one of the biggest Unions in Australia.  I believe in Liberal principles but I am definately not a member of the Liberal part, nor am I a supporter.

Hypocrasy - Did you commented enthusiastically about Craig Thompson, before any criminal convictions? Have you commented enthusiastically, or even enquired or tried to learn more about Abbott being investigated by the Federal Police for illegal acts? No...you have simply been rude and insulting to the person who brought up the topic.  Is not this sectarian, is this not hypocrasy?

My mistake was not differentiating between the current Craig Thompson thread and others.

Seems we are ruled totaly by criminals--Except for the likes of Ted Mack

I don't think there have ever been the likes of Ted Mack in Australian Politics, PlanB.  He won an independant Seat on the North Sydney Council, followed by the appointment as Mayor, then won the State Seat of North Sydney followed by the safe Liberal Federal Seat of the same Area from Spender.  He never failed to live by his principles & was probably straighter than Ben Chifley.

What is so scary about all of this, is that we the public, vote these idiots in.  Is it because of the fact that no decent person would want to participate in the dirty dealings that are done.  I always thought bribery was a crime, but it certainly seems to be alive and well within our government.

Wow, it appears that those that screamed the loudest about Craig 'whathisname' were all Abbott supporters (by definition, therefore right wing elitists), judging from the lack of response here.

Now that Abbott (the leader of the opposition) does something that is purportedly illegal.......you lot barely make any comments????????? No indignation...no calling for the death penalty...no interest at all really??? Other than to state magnanimously that all politicians have their snouts in the trough.  Really....if Gillard had any whiff of this sort of corruption you would be shouting from the rooftops.....wouldn't you!!!!!!!

Additionally, why are you not complaining about how biased our corporate owned media is because it was either silent or buried the article on page 18.  Don't you think the media should be MORE interested in a major political figure who purportedly did something illegal, rather than a minor political figure.  However, the corporate owned media raved on continually over the minor political figure and ignored (practically) the major political figure.  Don't you think that is incredibly bias?

I was perplexed I must say that this accusation against Abbott (and as with Thomson not as yet proven), had been reported last week and yet not a whisper had been heard.  To their credit, the Labor Party have not been baying for blood and sounding off as the Coalition has, setting themselves up as judge and jury.  

Abbott's alleged crime carries a serious penalty possibly imprisonment if he was to be found guilty.  Let us hope all inquiries into matters on both sides are carried out honestly without fear or favour.  Otherwise a mockery is made of our legal systems at state and federal levels.

Goodness me innes, that is a amazingly judgement you make about some Americans.  I have many friends there whom I have met personally and none of them fit your description at all. :0)

If you take the trouble to go back a little on the words of Mussitate, you will find that everybody who questions him is relegated to their fictitious American birth.  The judgement is not mine.  Personally, I don't have a lot of time for the coastal Yanks, BUT, the people from the mid west would be the friendliest people in the World, outside of Ireland.  If I worded my comment badly, I apologise to all Americans.
