Quartet - the film.

Just a bit of light relief, I love going to the pictures so when the opportunity to see the preview of this with Coffe and snacks came up at our good price of $8.00 only  I took 2 friends for their Christmas present. Cinema totally packed no one under 60 and we all enjoyed it. Similar to Marigold Hotel in enjoyment, with Maggie Smith in it but with Billy Connolly for the cheeky laughs just cannot beat that man or keep him down. Also has beautiful music ensembles. Worth going to, unless you are very straight laced. For General release on Boxing Day I think.

I already have it on my list Vivity, it is so long since a good movie came out.  Thanks for the review.  I too love Billy, naughty but nice.  Saw Pamela S, his wife interviewed the other day and she is no fool either...A professor of Phycology -

kind regards,

I agree his wife is pretty good I saw her too but can't remember on what, saw the trailer for Les Mis wasn't going to go after seeing at the Theatre but that looks good too so on my list as well now.

I will have a look too now and Les Misérables (to see Russell Crowe singing would be worth $15 on its own).

thanks vivity.

Planning to go when it opens here at the State cinema next week. Preview looked good. I love Maggie Smith...have never seen her in a bad movie yet. Still looking forward to seeing her in the next series of Downton Abbey too.

I love Billy--so funny and a great actor also--

Saw "Quartet" today as there was an advanced screening - loved it and would like to see it again.  Thought Billy stole the show, funny man, had a real laugh.

kind regards,

Hope it comes on TV soon

Wouldn't think it would be on TV for ages, it is only being released here in OZ on Boxing Day.  They often have advanced screening if I follow my close-by Cinema details along on the internet.

kind regards,

It's already being advertised on Foxtel (on demand) and I'm so looking forward to seeing it   so I'll pay the $6 to see it early.

My hubby's condition precludes us going to cinemas and I rarely go anywhere

except shopping and hospital apptmnts so foxtel is our little indulgence, so to speak.

We have the seniors package now plus access to on demand which is well worth it.

Watched' Batman Rises' last week, what a flop,( imo)

Thanks for that Maggs

My neighbour has Foxtel so I too should be able to see it sooner

I really do want to see Les Miserables can hardly wait for that - saw nits of it on TV

Quartet is also on my list of "movies must see".  Les Mis is top of the list, I loved the stage show (saw it twice) and we have booked to go on Boxing Day.  The grandchildren have elected to see The Hobbit, so the adults will be at Les Mis and the 18-24 year olds will be at the Hobbit.
