Not a good combination apparently, problems of interference reported.

yes Seth I have heard that before, a lady in Victoria wanted hers removed for that reason

We had one put in three weeks ago. Just a note saying leave the gate open we are coming and wammo we now have a smart meter.

What's it supposed to do to us Seth?

I cannot say I feel any different but I am still having A-Fib. Cannot be off to hospital every time so just wait it out and hope I do not kark it :(

I wonder if you can refuse to have one on medical grounds, here in Victoria, now our sleeping beauty premier has made it compulsory, unlike other states where you have a choice.

You can try, I would, because as I remember this lady in Victoria made a huge fuss and went on one of the current affairs programmes.as they had to move out of their home.

I'll  try that or may put a lock on the meter box with a booby trap.

Seth. people have put locks on their meter boxes and gates to keep them out!

"Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been promoting a plan to ease increases in power prices including rolling out so-called smart meters."

Our PM thinks they are a good thing even if they cost pensioners more money

Besides if some pensioners happen to depart it will be good for the Labor Budget.

I hate to think it true Abby but you have hit the button there.

She would be glad if we all carked it at age 65 and agreed with the Greens some say when they mooted it one time  - heard this but never found any evidence that it was more than a rumour. But no smoke without fire and things that are happening to make the lives of those over 65 less happy are mounting so may have some basis.

I mean she cut out first level of hearing aids 2011 quietly saying to justify it that these end up in drawers not used. As if.

And cut out the dental scheme Howard put in to protect the elderly in  Dec 2012 as these were all too often end of the long queues for state schemes which cater mainly for the children - because that gains votes as a heart breaker of course to be to the point.  And put the money saved into more dental treatments for the children and teens who already get good treatments via state budgets. So makes sense only that they cant bear to see money 'wasted' on non future taxpayers maybe as working families is all they spout these days.

Forgetting that most of the things that draw people here to live in Australia,  are there because it was built with the hard work and labour of those living now on the pension even the older ones kept the home fires burning in WW2 and didnt have the super and large pension schemes public servants have today just told work and your pension will be there for you when you retire just as it is for those living on it right now having done their bit etc.

All this age panic started because all governments the world over didnt make provision or even keep the monies paid in pension funds with exception of a few like the UK and panicked when demographics said big bump of baby boomers - well of course big bump - and why because many millions had died in WW2 fighting for their country or being killed by the enemy - DUH!

Peter Costello sold off assets and set up the Future Fund to pay public servants vast pensions - well compared with age one anyway. Hopefully still there not half inched like our Pension Fund we all paid into with our income taxes eh!

As for Smart meters worse thing ever to kill you since asbestos they seem to be saying.

Anything like it I will avoid as it is a form of radiation poisoning and having it the other side of the wall - anyone sitting etc can be eradicated or so I read.

We were warned in the Army to avoid microwave ovens before even out for use. Then people get sick living under the high voltage overhead wires, as well living close to transformers.

Lately warned that having cordless phones, radio with green led lights close to your head,  or clocks with radioactive material on the hands to glow too etc.can cause tumours or cancers. Really worrying that.

Google it and read up on it must be there particularly smart meters

I thought that people were locking up meter boxes, gates etc and plain refusing to have one - we will if they try but have off peak and they cant fit that in with them so will keep it ogoing good thing anyway even if not that cheap any longer . Because for some reason trying to get us all off it of course.
