PaceMaker question

Hello my PM friends, I have been going well since my PM implant, but my Cardio doesn't seem to agree. When I went for my last tweek, he wasn't very happy with the result he was getting, I have been feeling the odd rock & roll, but thought even so I am still better than I was. He is now talking about an Ablation, said we would talk about it when I next see him on 30th April. Of course he frightened the devil out of me, so I googled it, but didnt find much in words I understood. Is it worth doing more at my age? 81 this year, can any of you knowledgable people tell me what it entails? I am a bit of a sook, & just about feel as I have done enough.Help!!!!!!

Doodlebug, I have read reports on it being a successful procedure in America,         Do you know whether your afib, is Paroxysmal or Persistant' ? and how often  your Cardio has carried out the procedure? if known, or if any. Do you know why he wants to ablate? he must be reading something in the printout, like with mine it showed at various times I was 'flat lining'

Your never too old to improve your well being. One day at a time.

thanks for the reply seth. No I dont weather I am either of the P's you refer to.My Cardio is a top notch so he must have done it before.

The reason why he mentioned it was, that it is still beating too fast at times. I know I have jumped the gun ,worrying about it, before it has even been explained to me,I just wondered what it meant , I have never heard of it. I remember ,before the implant, he said to me, that he may have to do more later on.

Doodlebug sometimes you do get a fast heart rate that was why my cardio put me on a beta blocker because after an examination I had a fast beat when standing up.  The prolototol had terrible side effects and I stopped,

Check this out, WWW.stopafib./org/catheterablationsuccessrates.sfm

The person behind this  she has had the ablation.

I would like an ablation when chemo. and radiation are well over.

Wopuld like to give up the two heart tablets every day. I still have a-fib with a pacer and a low blood pressure reading and in fact so low our home  machine will not take it at all.

Lucky you Doodlebug being advised to have an ablation I would say :)

Speaking for myself I will probably have one not too far down the track.

How is your new pacer going Seth?

All the best

Phyl.

Seggie. Hugs to you all. And xxxxxxx too.

Phyl,  The new PM is going alright even with a French accent, seeing it is a French one.

Remember you promised a great party on your 100th. Seth.

This site would never be the same without you so 100 will not cut the mustard 110 and then we will see :)

What party? who's Phyl? where am I? who are all these people?

Do I know you?????

leave me alone, I just want to sleep.....zzzzzz

Seth, that link you gave me did not work on Google, thanks anyway.

Thanks Phyl, about the ablation, what does it entail?

Doodlebug, this is a site which i've followed for 9years and where I learned about Pradaxa years before it's coming to Australia,

StopAfib.org        [It may be able to resolve a lot of questions}

The founder has herself had the ablation.

It is like cautisizing a bit of the heart I think D.B. and when it works you are off all meds. good hey? up through the groin - you can google ablation and read heaps.

I am all for it and will go into it when over the current hurdle ho hum lol

Just down to Box Hill Hospital to have my pacer changed over

then 30 zaps of radiation but not for another couple of months until over chemo.

Life is full of adventure - arn't we lucky alwys something happening lol

For Mrs. Seth for putting up with Mr. Seth :)

Just for PM enthusiasts and guinea pigs for pradaxa. Had my 2nd PM check for the new one, never realised the information stored on the new one, Not only picks up fibrillation  but also the time and the day when having the episode.

Doodlebug... how are you coping now? all settled down I hope, A bit worried about Phyl, hasn't been here for ages.  Then having to have PM changed to other side on top of all the other.

G'Day Seth. The PM is amazing ,at my last checkup I thought everything was going well & told the CardioDoc it was. He then proceded to tell me I had had various episodes on such & such a date ,at that time!!! Amazing, couldn't hide if I wanted to.

I am feeling pretty good, just get very tired. It has been decided not to do the ablation at this time, I think my age is a factor, its just wait & see .

Also worried for Phyl, unlike her to not be popping up.

Continue to be supplied with the Pradaxa trial, very happy with that.

Thanks for the update, keep up the good health.

doodlebug, so glad all is now going well, the new PMs really do everthing but talk to you, the last one only recorded the event, nothing else, talking about getting tired, I get tired just thinking about it, all the best.
