hey Phyl - where are you

G'day all - hope your all well - i have been a very naughty boy - been away and just to lazy to keep in touch - mind o i knew that when i had a problem or a question you were all here.

have been lucky enough to have been some places but when i got back needed to opologise to all my Pommie mates - always told them that if the place was so good - why are they here.

well now i understand why anyone from Europe is here its for work mainly.

I always was of the opinion that no place on earth was as beautiful as my home Australia so you could just emagine how my understanding has changed - all of Europe is just fabulous - the light is softer and simple flowers look spectacular to me.

Stayed at a beaut pub The Thistle at Marble bar for a fortnight - just loved London - then toured England ,Ireland Scotland and Wales for a month , what a wonderful experience and we went to the Edinborgh Military Tatto.

spent another eleven days at The Thistle then off to Europe down to Turkey via Albania then back up through the Greek Islands to Italy then back to London via Sitzerland and France

Few days at The Thistle and it was starting to feel like home - the chef was fabulous.

had a week at Hong Kong on the way home and we discovered a beaut little pub in Kowloon - The Nathan - it was beaut but you must get rooms above the Nathan floor.

Its very Chinese but the service is fabulous and the dinning room is fabulous - not the furniture - the food and service - they treat you like family

Once home decided the caravan was far to big for me to handle so we traded her up to a Sunliner motor home which is beaut

well thats us and i would love to be part of the community once more - now that i have been educated a bit

regards

peter

Love your comm ents...Yes if the weather we have in the west here at present of course no HOTTER I think there would be a mass exodus to UK I am a Yorkshire girl and there is nowhere to ME that is like my homeland.....My family wanted back there when hubby passed away but I was shocked as I always thought they loved it here......we do get settled and comfortable in our ways as we age...I think people on the whole are becoming far more nomadic never mind the scenery etc etc and I have a plethora of UK pals and they never mention to me wanting to come here as I say they all settled whatever.....they say Tassie the best of the bunch though...Maybe I may venture forth one of these days....I see an adult now can travel on the Boat to the Island free or cost of a child...I do get homesick though........

PS I used to live in Kowloon and had an absolutely fabulous time there for two years....Nathan Road good too and that Pub.......came back here for Kids.........phew xx

Always nice to see people coming back to the forum Peter.

You have had an interesting time and long may it keep being interesting.

Please do not be a stranger as we need people like you around the place. :)

I havn't been to the UK Peter. Should have and maybe should think about it. My Mum came from England and always said how the grass was a beautiful green and the chocolate VERY creamy. Sounds good lol.

You sure had a wonderful trip and would imagine you wanting to return and still tour.

Farmers markets are popping up all over the place and hopefully help the growers and us.

Look forward to your posts.

When last there 5 yrs since I literally cried when on the train to Torquay when I saw the white sheep in a Green field.....

There is a saying that you havent lived if you havent see the sunset set or rise in Kenya......not forgetting those little Meerkats too....lololo and the animals free roaming....etc etc we live in a wonderful world and planet...why don`t people en joy as we do..............................

I probably should leave this alone, but, I think that a lot of this is to do with a persons particular interests & their personal perception.  I think that most of Australia is an ugly unocupied semi desert, but my sister in law, who lives in one of the most spectacular areas of Switzerland, visited us last year & was totally enthralled with the bleak Western Plains of NSW.  I have been to New Zealand many times & have always raved about Queenstown.  I had a break of about 7 or 8 years before going back there the year before last.  The tourism has ruined the place.  It is like Byron Bay at Christmas time.  I can't stand London, but the countryside of England is spectacular & a real joy to visit, especially since the rear end has fallen out of the Pound.  Precious loves Hong Kong.  I much prefer the food there than the mainland, but the crowds make Shanghai look like a deserted ghost city by comparison.  My oldest son lives in Chek Lap Kok & absolutely loves it there & he spend his working life travelling to every part of the World that Cathay flies to. When I was a youngster, I thought that Germany was just a place that you had to pass through to go anywhere on the Continent.  Then I actually visited Bavaria & found it visually stunning & the people so nice & friendly.  The thing that probably amazed me most of all there is that it is the only place I have ever been where virtually nobody speaks a word of English.

well we are not people to worry bout languages - we have a great training ground here in places like Springvale - people have things or ideas to sell and buy - a little effort and everything turns out fine.

I love Shanghai and had no problems with crowds - same as London - a wonderful place and everything is exciting.

New Zealand is a beautiful place - the North and South are so different but it is very small - it is like theme park - everything is spotless - little white fluffy sheep in emerald green paddocks with white fences - not a rusted out shed or truck to be seen,

Not to fussed about Switzerland or Germany for that matter - very nice but Austria Croatia Albania Greece Bosnia - all spectacular countries - the Greek and Turkish islands are fabulous and Italy - what a place.  France is wonderful and all the costal regions around Nice are unforgetable

Ireland is fantastic but Wales and Scotland must not be missed - Portree is just beautiful

could go on all day Phyl - save up your pennies and get over there - love Australia but the soter light of Europe makes a big difference
