Something nice, Just for a change.... Musical

I usually post here after a sampling of my home brew.

Today is unusual because the brew that I'm drinking today had an extra kick on account of the extra bag of sugar that I added to the original mix.

Music.  Yes.

I have been on the beat chasing a bit of music that I heared on a TV programme, which has haunted me for years.

I found it today, and I wish to share it with you because it took me a long time to find the title.

Not only, but also, it took me a long time to find a decent recording.

Crank up the volume.........

Stay clear of the rotten Labor Adds - switch them off quickly - almost enough to turn you off this beautiful music.

Preston or Pinnoch.....   Ahhh we are spoiled.

I love Pinnoch conducting from the keyboard and there is a Lute in the orch.

but Preston pips the post for me.    Phil.

Hello Greymalkin,
I'm a bit partial to the grog myself, not that anyone would notice though.

Hic

Good choice Grey .

I,d like to link a couple of my own . Mozart 2nd movement concerto 21 which is one my favourites , beautiful music .

concerto

I like to play the Requiem sometimes . All of it but one nit in particular stands out, Dies Irae .

Quirky one

birdcatcher

I have not played this for a while butI used to play it a lot and loud . Great music .

Berlioz

Classic music I came to love because I could not listen to commercial radio anymore once they started playing rap , hate it . No melody , no highs or lows just boring beat . Classic rock like Pink Floyd's Money or classical music but not singing unless the flower duet etc .

Geo, Re, the flower duet,  I bet you will like this...........FF to 1:50.

THEN,  I bet you get to rent the video.   Its a good movie.   Phil.

I have had a pleasant afternoon watching vids and switching to the site Phil . I downloaded one vid , Beethovens 9th choral symph . I have it already but the its good watching rather than just listening .

choral

A good thread Phil and now I can reply using your short name rather than your moniker . I,m lazy in that respect .

cheers

Thank you, all of you.  A great way to spend some time, particularly with a glass of red.

No offence but that is not the best version of Gloria in Excelsis Deo i have heard, its one of many,I am and always have been a fan of the original composer of a piece,in this case Bach, nobody could possibly interpret another composers work better than the original,am not bitching but others versions are better!

I think i heard the music to this played on a rotary piccolo once, but could be wrong, maybe Alison Balsom not sure, with full orchestra of course, its nice but not brilliant, just my opinion really.

I love my rock music actually, but i like all music,Vivaldi's Four Seasons was his standout, and i really love a good Cello,Jaqueline du Pre naturally, what a brilliant talent she was and her beautifull rendition of Elgar's works, brilliant.

Its very nice Greymalkin and am very happy it brought you the happiness it did, that is what music is all about really, happiness!

Kind Regards billy

Great thread, keep 'em coming please, gonna sit out the back tomorrow night with me glass of plonk ( and a ciggie) with the outdoor fire going and listen /watch them properly

Get on YouTube Maggs and type in Alison Balsom in the search box, wow, what a brilliant musician, plays a rotary piccolo, looks like a lobsided cornet, she is brilliant.and yes it is a good thread, nice and mild!

billy
