Not happy Coles/Woolies

Trying to shop yesterday for groceries for myself and daughter I actually walked out in disgust from Coles where I could not find my favourite items and went to Woolies, same there. So I enquired of the assistants what had happened to them and was told they had been deleted and replace with home brand. I knew space for  brand names was being downsized but now they are disappearing altogether.

Also trying to buy milk other than the $1 stuff, there was a piddly section and the date was only about 2 days away.

It has been said for a while that shoppers should be aware that this could happen but now it quite blatent and I strongly resent being bullied into what I should buy.

I do shop Aldi where they have never pretended they favour their own brands, but even though we have the 3 supermarkets in our country town they have squeezed out the smaller shops already, so we have little choice.

Boy, do I agree with your comments! they are the biggest bullies on this planet.

I have a FlyBuys card. Do you know that in order to get it I had to tell them:

My full name, address, date of birth and phone No? I complaint about this and I told them why a supermarket (o glorified shop) has to have all that information and for them to erase it from their books: quite politelly they told me (in a nutshell): their way or the highway!  Now, I had to phone them the other day and just like a bank they asked me for all of these personal details before they could talk to me!

WWhat is going on!

Henry, I refused to have one of their rewards or flyby cards, they have all your personal details and can track your shopping habits. This worried me a lot.

Hey, do I sound like Clive Palmer? seeing conspiracy theories, anyway I hope they stop the petrol dockets as they are useless to me as we don't have a reciprocal petrol station in town. Maybe then petrol will be more competitive.

Last night watching the news I finally realised why Coles wants to have all that information: they want to start a banking business! So they are already preparing for this movement, accumulating as much information about us as possible.

With reards to this FlyBuys card I think I will be around 102 years of age before I can claim a can of baked beans for free!

In winter I used to buy tinned pudding with caramel sauce but no longer there . Still have a the fruit pudding but I dont eat dried fruit . If I want to cook chilli the tinned tomato or kidney beans on offer are home brand or overseas made with aussie made hard to find .

While on the topic of supermarkets I would like to add chemists as a similar thing happens at both . They design aisles etc and people get around doing their shopping ok then they add boxes with what they think are eye catchers and put them in the middle of an aisle . The chemist I go to , now priceline , is like an obstacle course to get to the tills after getting the script from the chemist . Naturally prescriptions at end of shop and tills at the front .

Fortunately we still have a stand alone IGA here with stock which is different in different suburbs too but slightly more expensive than our fairly small shopping centre nearby which has Woolies and Coles but IGA has the variety and is pretty busy maybe more so than the nearby Coles.

IGA  always has assistants available and enough checkouts too, Extra cost worth it.

geo Sent you a PM.

I also agree that the Coles and Woolies are bullies--stand up to them and demand that they stock what you want--I do but we need MORE people to do the same--PEOPLE POWER --we should also have the choice of petrol discounts or have the amount taken off the groceries.
They have put all the Delis and the green grocers out of business here

PlanB:

You say: we need MORE people to do the same--PEOPLE POWER --.

I agree with this concept wholeheartedly, this is what I have been telling those that have not as yet completed a membership form re The Seniors party (www.seniorsparty.org)

We used to have BILO which is Coles under other name but there sure is a difference in goods and service as well as price.
