Good Movies

Pete mentioned "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"

excellent movie. I recommend it to everyone. Retirees will especially identify with the characters and the storyline.

We went to see "The Butler" this afternoon

Robi - you'd love it.

Cameos from Jane Fonda, Robin Williams and a few others.

There are a couple of movies that really reasonated with me over the years - but the one in particular that stood out to me IMO was "Soylent Green" featuring  Charlton Heston - made in the mid 1960's........but events "predicted" in it -  were for the 2000's (now!!!)

If you ever get the chance to see this movie - you can see what it predicts "happening"  to the world - without a doubt!  Scary - trust me!   :-)   we are definitely headed that way!!

Sequel to "Marigold Hotel" coming out 2015 with same caste but also Richard Gere, got it marked as one I want to see.Judi Dench is an amazing actress and continuing to act even going blind just shows how good she is.

Great cast and should be well worh seeing

cant imagine RICHARD GERE in this type of film,   but agree JUDY DENCH,  is good in whatever she does,    HAVE you seen ; mrs henderson,  ;   a great film,   and judy dench at her best,

Abby now how would we cope if George Clooney was in a sequel?

Viv

I keep watching the Nexpresso ad set on repeat  ... almost no time in the day to get anything else done :)

How Far

I do occasionally switch it to

What Else

Nice ones just wonder if he part owns N'Expresso?

I do believe that George Clooney donates the money from this to charity

Great movie screening now is "The Imitation Game". Based on a true story.

Download ..............World without end.......George Gently S1 to S6.

Taken 1...2..3....Liam Nielsen

There is no movie theatre where I live so to watch you hire a dvd or watch tv. But I am usually asleep before movies finish on tele so don't bother with them.

One live show i went to that I will never forget was "Mystere" by Cirque Du Soleil at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. I was staying at Treasure Island at the time and Mystere was booked out for the next 6 months. But they always kept spare seats for journalists and if these were not used then they went on sale before the show. Thus I was lucky to get a couple of tickets.

Mystere has been showing at Treasure Island for over 20 years and is still going.

Only seen Sol de Cirque once in Perth, definitely not as exotic as seeing it in Las Vegas! I am impressed.

Love Circe Du Soleil Gerry. Have seen 3 of their shows live and have most of their CDs and DVDs.

Seggie. Thanks Vivity. Just watched the trailer to the sequel of the Marigold Hotel. Adored the first film and looking forward (soon) to the new one. Anything to put a smile on the face and a good laugh is just great. As for George Clooney doing the Nespresso ads., I believe he donates the money he receives to charity. Makes the old heart race a bit. One can but dream.

Bump

Thought I would add this here as very enjoyable.

Saw a good film just out, a British film set in the highlands of Scotland fantastic scenery.

Billy Connolly and David Tarrant and  but 3 small chilfdren as main characters were incredible. Billy Connolly as the dying Grandfather remaining full of fun for his Grandchildren. One of those very good films on a small budget that Britain does so well. Comedy and sadness.

"What we did on Our Holidays" well worth seeing.

Saw "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" today. Thought it was crummy but others in my film group thought it was an average film. I was not as rapt in the first film as most people so wasn't expecting much from the second. The very last dancing scene is good but that's the only positive thing I can say about it.

The last dancing scene was good, have you seen "What We Did on Our Holidays"? Lot of undertones in that. I could watch that again as I did with Salmon Fishing in the Yemen even though I had read the book first.

Going to see that next Wednesday Viv.

I was not impressed with the Second Best Marigold Hotel and was very much looking forward to seeing it.  Thought the first one was better.

Hubby and I found we missed some of the dialogue (the funny bits)...will be interested to know if anyone else found the dialogue hard to hear at times.

The best part was the wedding dance near the end of the movie.

Went to see "A Royal Night Out" yesterday, with a Seniors Club. At $8"00 a ticket. Obviously popular as they had opened up a second theatre as well. Good scenes from VE Day in London but I was not impressed with the basic story and Princess Margaret was made to look an absolute dill. My film mate thought it was good though.

End of May a new film with Helen Mirren due out " Golden Girl " or some such that should be good. Helen plays the part of the daughter of the original owner of Klimpfs portrait of her Aunt which was stolen by the Nazis and her determination to get it returned. Definitely want to see that one.

Funny but my young daughter (13) and her mates all want to see Royal Night Out..

strange how popular the cinema is with that age group...

My nearly 14 year old Grand-daughter likes going to the pictures too with friends when they have the time.

Sociable and discerning enough to realise some films much better on a big screen.

Saw an absolutely wonderful film last week: X + Y

It is a British film portraying the life of an autistic boy. Very sensitive, it is one of those films that keeps you in its embrace, totally enthralled throughout. Recommend everyone see it if you can.

Viv I really enjoyed "What We Did On Our Holidays". Going to see "A Royal Night Out" next week so was interested to read your impressions. Must say the trailer did not grab me.

Thanks Robi Will keep an eye out for X and Y. Looks like some good films coming up.

It's not X and Y, it's  "X + Y".

Thanks Robi, the title suggest a Chromosome involvement?

I think it's more to do with algebra. He is mathematically gifted.

I remember looking forward to the Saturday afternoon matinee ... we did not get the TV till 1965 living in the country. So it is not just teenagers of today that like to go to movies.
