scientists say they have made a major breakthrough in the fight against several cancers

This is an extract from an ABC article.

Melbourne scientists say they have made a major breakthrough in the fight against several cancers, which could lead to new drugs to treat the disease.

Scientists at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute say they have worked out how to kill a protein which causes diseases including leukaemia and lymphoma..............

Dr Kelly says one of the most exciting aspects of the team's discovery is that the lymphoma cells they were experimenting with could be killed off within 24 to 72 hours.

It is hoped that success in the lab can now be turned into a treatment for cancer patients

This is good news especially for patients who have these cancers for which at the moment there is no cure.

This is excellent news and I only hope and pray it becomes availalbe to people very soon.

Thanks for sharing that good news withus Gerry :)

Nice to have a good news story.  I have recently lost two very good friends to cancer with another one currently going through the chemo mill.   This is the sort of thing we should be spending our taxes on, instead of handing out millions in foreign aid.

Australia has a fantastic reputation with regards to medical breakthroughs and a lot of it is funded by public donations.  I wonder if there is another country in the world that funds this kind of medical research to the extent that Australlians do?

It is a very good news and we all hope the treatment will come quickly.

Did anyone see on the news last night there is belief marijuana has cancer killing properties for those with the rotten thing.
