Eyesight problems

I received a letter advising me that I was due for an eyesight check up as it was 2 years since the last one I had.
I have reading glasses and distance glasses but I seldom wear the latter. At my last test the optometrist suggested I use the distance glasses if driving long distance or driving at night.
I had not noticed any difference since my last checkup but thought I had better make sure.

At the optometrist all was going well with reading small print and reading the chart with my left eye covered, but things changed when I covered my right eye.
I could not see the chart.
Below is an explanation of tests.

Visual acuity tests
6/6     Normal vision
6/12     Reduced vision, Australian legal driving limit.
6/18     Low vision
Less than 6/60     Legal blindness
My left eye 6/90

The optometrist mentioned "macular" several times so when I got home I googled Macular Degeneration. The symptoms I had were similar to those of Macular Degeneration.

I went back to the optometrist a couple of days later for further tests and she thought the problem could be a macular hole.
I now have an appointment with an eye specialist in about 3 weeks.
My point in telling this is to see if anyone else has had macular problems and to see how they coped.

That is such a sweet picture Micha :).

Abby, simply because someone misspells your name is no reason to jump to conclusions.

Micha, I do think you and Jaguar would have liked and "got" each other.

Have a lovely evening Robi !

Thank you Micha. I have had a fantastic family and friend filled weekend, and still buoyed by the March on Saturday and the coming together with so many like minded strangers to fight against mutually perceived wrongs, so I am feeling very happily contented right now. You have a lovely evening too :)

Just  look at the mayhem caused on the Forum wrecking thread after thread posring the same intormation on number of threads to cause confusion, the other method of divide and conquer which we are all familiar with, The charm and yet the inability to control its temper - for some strange reason thinks by calling people lewd names helps its cause - I think it just shows lack of intellect and does not affect me one bit.

On Micha's hit list is Davey, Foxy, Shetso and myself - Solomon feels like Argy Bargy.

Fighting is never one sided Abby. All of the people you have mentioned, including yourself are not innocents in this current kerfuffle. Why don't you all give it a miss, drop it and see what happens.

I am not fighting but do object to people ganging up on one individual.

Why attack Davey and Foxy if Micha did not know them ??

Foxy tried to make up with Phyl and company which may have happened but we will never know as Micha intervened and restarted the disagreement.

Micha even tried to get a disagreement going between me and Foxy by dragging up muck from a year ago - well it did not work did it - I've moved on and cannot see any value in holding grudges if you want to belong to the same Forum..

Micha has had two free hits - at which stage I hit back as I am nobody's punching bag.

I feel sorry for Fleur being related to that.

Abby, if you really do object to people ganging up on one individual you would not be involving yourself in the current ganging up against Micha. It seems to me that he is the only one being ganged up upon.

Davey and Foxy attacked both Fleur and Micha and you attacked Micha from the start. It is not true that Micha started the nasty stuff.

Micha did not restart the disagreement between Phyl and Foxy. That has been ongoing and is between them. If Phyl did not want to respond to Foxy's flag waving that is her prerogative.

I am only saying this in the interest of truth. Quite frankly I am sick of all of this nonsense and I wish you and others would drop it.

Thank you Robi for all of that. Really appreciate your telling the truth and not holding back. Yes, from the time I arrived the knives were out. Without giving me a chance, I was hounded because some thought I was and still am Fleur now I am someone called Jaguar. Abby always was (from years past) and still is the biggest trouble maker.

The reason for bringing up the old threads was to jolt some sense into her--it didn't work. She's still jumping in and onto other people's posts. Still inciting trouble. Just like a leech, you can't get away from her.

I should completely ignore her and am going to try, but you watch and see what happens when she is ignored--it gets worse. I would like to put up some serious posts but this B---- keeps hijacking and rubbishing everything. I may have to just pack up and go. Never came across or hope to come across such a tragic a-- of a woman.

I have read some past threads and it is plain to see how abby, twila and soloman tormented Fleur. She is due back in Perth soon and I don't know if she will want to post here and IMHO that is a loss.

Well I hope you don't go Micha and I hope Fleur comes back. I for one enjoy what you both contribute. Tis human nature, when individuals are attacked they either fight or flee. If they are newcomers and attacked, and they flee, the forum circle stays closed. That is not good for any of us. Things seem to be settling down so I hope you hang in.

Abby kill the bitch

This bitch??

                      avater

Well it is many months since this eyesight problem started but it seems much longer than that.

To sum up I had a macular hole and cataract in the left eye and cataract in the right eye.

Now all fixed although is could take up to another 12 months for the left eye to get to it's best and another 3 weeks for the right eye to be at it's best.

I was given a letter that I no longer need glasses for driving and already can read the print on here without reading glasses and it has to get better.

I am a few thousand dollars lighter but I am pleased the way it has turned out. They were $s worth spending as to me sight is more precious than money.

I dont know Gerry - eyesight is a mixed blessing. I would get mine fixed, but looking in the mirror each morning to shave is already depressing enough.

Kfc other people must look at you then and think what an interesting face and that you must have had an interesting life!

had a set back with my second op finally finished all the drops and immediately got an eye infection and now still have another 10 days to go on the newest drops but can finally go to get tested for perfect new readers. Must say the only real problem I am really having is with too much  light just find it all a bit dazzling.

i damaged my left eye in an accident and spent a week in a private hospital unable to move my head, to try and stop the bleeding which could cause loss of vision, it was a success but left the eye a little weaker so have glasses, duel lens. Last eye test four months ago show no macular degeneration. It is very important to have your eyes checked twice a year by an Opthalmogist as something can go wrong very quick as you age. My wife is one whose eye damage was discovered too late to save her sight and is now  legally blind, in her nineties, needs constant assistance now, so look after your eyes.

Seth Dorothy losing her sight like that, by it being discovered too late must have made it very difficult for her to deal with. She is very lucky to have had you as a loving husband and carer and be able to remain in her home.

Viv.. the children have all rallied around so we have managed OK, Dorothy has found it hard as she has always been a good walker and now housebound.  But I cheer her up by saying we still have each other, I still don't understand that when I say that to her, she breaks into uncontrollabe sobbing.

Must be joy Seth surely nothing else!  :) how wonderful after 80 + years of knowing each other she is still full of mystery for you - clever lady.
