Supply Charges Skyrocket
We have just received our latest bill from AGL, the supply charge will increas in 2 days time by a whopping 66.2%; there is no comment from electricity suppliers other than costs to supply have outstripped previous years!
We are pensioners, so this is a massive blow, especially in the middle of winter, so we will have to sit at night with blankets, rather than using any heaters. This on top of the reduction of solar rebates being cut, too.
I can understand the solar side because of solar farming, as it has been called, but that's the governments fault to start with, they should have limited systems to be installed based upon house size and not based upon need and greed to rip as much off the power companies and users! We know of houses where they have in excess of 100 panels for a four bedroom house and they get back over $2,000 a quarter in solar credits, and it's this that has brought the solar industry to its knees; now, everyone loses! Common sense never ever seems to prevail.
I feel such an increase in supply charge has been brought about by the above, so now, the government has hit back and will make everyone suffer, pensioners included, those who least can afford it! I hope Campbell Newman reads this, though I doubt any politician will with their fat cat salaries, they care little about the battlers. Sadly, I must confess, I voted for Campbell Newman, but never again! Since they came to power, electricity has gone through the roof and I say this literarily!
So with a 66.2% increase in electricity supply charges, and I know only of AGL, how many more will have to freeze and or do without, to pay for electricity?
Welcome to the blanket brigade. The increase in gas charge (all companies) is disgusting. We had a thread on it recently (in 'Hot Topics' I think) which you will find in the archives if you are interested. Apparently it is because we are paying international prices and WA is the only state to introduce legislation to protect the domestic market price. Mining companies are making huge profits and paying little tax on OUR resources yet we are all paying more and more for our power. Particularly in QLD gas mining has taken off to the detriment of your environment and possibly the health of people living near the wells yet Queenslanders get no benefits. We need to all start protesting long and loud in every State. Why can WA protect the price and yet none of the other States will?
