USA & MURDOCH interfering in AUSSIE democracy

Hi everyone, haven't caught up with what is happening on the forum but hope everyone is enjoying life and health and are very outspoken.

As you know, I have considerable respect and admiration for Gough Whitlam - mainly because he was a silver spooner who did more for Australia and the average Australian, than any other PM.

Besides giving us such wonderful things as a free health care system (yes, it was free at one stage) and equal free access to tertiary education, Whitlam wanted to buy back Australia from mega foreign corporations (mostly USA corporations).  To do this he needed money and could not go to the USA for this money so went directly to the Arabs. This folks was the terrible scandal that was splatted in our newspapers... although no one could possibly understand what was going on from these disjointed and disgusting newspaper spewings.

Now, because our PM (Mr. Gough Whitlam) was doing too much for the AVERAGE Australian and raising their standard of living to a level that the USA did not consider appropriate and then had the audacity to try and put our country in control of foreign mega corporations by buying 49% shares in them, Mr Gough Whitlam simply had to go.

Anyway, the USA National Archives released documents (published by Wikileaks), that proved that the USA and Murdoch, interfered in Australian democratic processes.

HERE IS THE LINK

It is a brief SMH article.

Fascinating Mussitate. Thank you for sharing this article and providing the backdrop.

Can you explain how Murdoch influenced the Governor General to remove Whitlam.

The article does not explain that bit

By the way, pleasure to meet your acquaintance

Solomon

G'day to you and nice to meet you too!

Kerr was the easy part... Kerr spent World War II working for an Australian intelligence organisation and during the decade of the 1950s, he joined the anti-communist advocacy group established by the United States' CIA.  He was also disillusioned with what he viewed as the ALP's socially left leanings....... need I say more!

After his dirty deed, Kerr was knighted and became a member of the Privy Councillor of the Privy Council of the UK - an English court that was once Australia's highest court and overrode OUR laws. Whitlam, was successful in ending this and making the High Court of Australia, the highest and final court in Australia and not  a foreign court.

So Kerr got what he had sort for sometime but at a great cost ..... he was dispised throughout Australia to the day he died and was unable, in some instances, to appear in public.  Aligning with foreign powers (USA & UK) may have put him on a pedestal but it is not much fun standing up there with a mob of angry Australians waiting down below.

Yes Mussi :)

I remember when Gough Whitlam galloped into victory with his  Its Time Campaign

A true statesman - apprently had his 98th birthday a couple of years ago

a couple of days ago Abby - not years  :)

Gerry :)

What do you expect of a chick ????

Like the info has to be processed from brain to the fingers :)

People were fed up with the libs and the war in vietnamn and elected a Labor gov't,

We get fed up with every gov'nt we have in the end}                             Gough ended our involvement and brought our troops home. and as usual the covervetives did everything to harass the newly elected gov'nt right up until undemocratically refusing supply. Fraser was the culprit and wept crocodile tears when he was discarded by the people.
